The hostage releases marked a crucial step in the deal between Israel and Hamas that took effect on Friday. The 20 Israeli hostages returned to Israeli territory after Hamas freed them early Monday. In exchange, buses carrying Palestinian prisoners released by Israel arrived in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the first of nearly 2,000 prisoners expected to be freed in the coming hours.

Yes, and I want to thank and congratulate President Trump, too.

The full reported details of the deal if carried out look really hopeful for long term peace. However, after three quarters of a century I doubt the arabs in Gaza have any sort of concept of peace.

Basically the palestinians are getting a 15:1 trade for hostages, Gaza will be occupied by third party peacekeepers, initially us but ultimately third party Arabs, Qatari/Sauds. Clear exit for all who desire it to countries that may take them, no forced exit. Hamas agrees to no part in future Gaza governance. Gaza to be governed by third party technocratic interim government until Gaza is rebuilt with emphasis on trade, possibly tourism, with the goal being self governance without hamas or other factional parties.

On paper it's pretty but I'm afraid it is probably a pipe dream. I suspect much of it will depend on just how bad the Qataris/Saudis want peace.

One thing that absolutely needs to be addressed in peace plans moving forward is the schools. Just as we are aware of here over there the palestinians are indoctrinated with hate from birth and that needs to change. Without that any future peace is impossible.
