And if so, what was the procedure and amount of time to get it?

I did call about them once...about 5 years ago...but they are still up there.

Can’t recall with 100% accuracy, but you need to notify them by a certain date to be placed into the next cycle to cash out your certificates. Depending on when you make this request in relationship to that date will determine how long it takes you to receive your money. Expect this total process to take just over 1 year up to almost 2 years.

My understanding is if you do it by September it gets cycled into the next closest pay-out, or something.

I've never heard of them before. What are they?

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

I guess it is a profit sharing with the company when they had profitable years?

Mt friend cashed his out two years ago, I thought the cut off date was in July he didn't get the check until the following fall. I still have several thousand dollars worth up there, I keep hearing from some of the higher ups in FHA that they have been talking about starting them up again or at least paying interest on them.

If I remember right about the last time interest was payed out on the certificates was around 2012 after that relatively profitable season. It was a pretty hefty amount since none had been payed out for a while...maybe 35% interest or something like that?

If I recall you have to submit a request to redeem a certificate around November or December and wait until July to get a cheque. I don't remember for sure on any of that. I'm sure that if you call the receptionist can square you away on the proper procedure.

A lot of trappers have wanted to keep those certificates in FHA's hands to help keep the company on solid financial ground during these marginal years. I do think though that FHA has been doing well enough lately that they're not at risk of failing anytime soon.
