A MD that works in our local hospital grew up about 25 miles from here.
A local, well-liked RN used this MDs license to write prescriptions for her dad twice. Very illegal.
The MD had to turn it into the state to protect her license. The RN was fined 2000 by the State Nurses Board but allowed to keep practicing. Her friend wrote a letter to the hospital board saying she (the MD) wasnt professional with her patients. The board had a meeting and defended the RN. All the local nurses and another MD kicked it under the rug and treat the MD like crap so she turned in her 90 day notice. Now theres a go Fund me for the RN to raise money for her fine. Shes from a wealthy family
Ridiculous
Thoughts?

Probably lots of shady stuff going on at that hospital. I'll bet that MD finds a much better place to work.

The RN should lose her license.

2x. My daughter changed jobs partly becuse the place she was working had a lot of pressure to do things in a way that could cost her her nursing license. The othe part was she is getting a lot more experience and exposure to several areas working in the hospital. Pay cut was worth it.

It wouldn't surprise me one little if it happened at our crap-tastic little band aid station.

Word to the wise. Don't go to Death Valley, I mean Gloden Valley Medical Center in Clinton, Mo.

I will tell you, I work at a hospital and my wife is a rn as well. That happens more often then not, i know a lot of nurses that write orders for the doctor to sign.
Patients, family members, even thierselves. This is different then stealing a pad and signing a name. But alot of doctors will just sign over prescriptions without asking if its a trusting nurse if they make an order. Which is in a rn scope of practice. Grey area if its for anyone but a patient.

As far as that nurse keeping her job, I agree if she stole a pad and forged the Dr name. She should lose her job and license, but as far as place of business fighting for her, home nurses are hard to find most nurses are young and money hungry they go into traveling agencies they make bank most places don't or can't afford traveling nurses..

I wouldn't donate, but other than that, what else is there to actually do about it?

So the RN used the DR's DEA number and forged signature on script?

Definitely an issue, probably more so if it was for narcotics/ controlled substances

Work with a MD that had a nurse writing scripts out of his practice for weight loss (GLP-1 drugs) for friends/family. She was fired when they found out

MD is going to find a better job, hospital is out one doctor. Nurse got lucky with only a fine and probably probation.

If the nurse was that well liked ( especially if the nurse was competent ), the MD probably didn't want to report it; but, comes down to you or me type of thing. Not sure I would want to be the next MD that nurse would be working for though ... matter of trust.

Sure do miss the days when doctors had private practices and made house calls.

The perp has been here for 30 years. Her friend that wrote the letter to the board has been here 25 years. They're both good nurses but very underhanded and intimidating. Small town politics.

Our little hospital politics is a bunch of little dogs trying to each wizz higher on the fire hydrant then they're qualified to.

Hospital politics suck. Little story.

My wife was a home hospice health aide for 11-1/2 years. When the hospital decided to go from 8 (I think) to just two aides, my wife figured they would keep her. Only one other aide had more experience. She got canned because she didn't have enough experience. They did keep a young lady with 6 months of experience. The young lady was the future daughter-in-law of one of the hospital administrators.

Sounds like the State Board dealt with the violation with a fine, and the rest was just a small town popularity contest. How does coming from a wealthy family matter?

I would of sued them unless the younger lady had some credentials that your wife didnt.

If I heard that story from my town, and I cared about it, I'd try to hear the other side of the story before choosing a side... if I cared, or had a hospital in town. crazy
