as a 16 yr old idk what this is. please enlighten me It is the controls for an in-the-ground car hoist. Most of them have been replaced with an above-the- ground hoist.

When i first started working for the city we had a couple that used those things. But they were truck lifts, so instead of having a lift on the left and right of the vehicle controlled by a single valve, they had a fixed front lift, and the rear one could be moved front-back so it would hit the rear axle. There were two of those valves, one for the front and one for the rear. You had to finesse them so the vehicle lifted evenly front to rear, without tipping, and of course they were ancient and leaked oil, so when they got low, they'd not move at all until enough pressure built and then literally bounce up. Absolutely terrifying. I hated them.

Only a very few select people were brave enough to try using it and even fewer were actually allowed to use it.
