I was Maintenance at a local Catholic convent (retirement home for Nuns) for 42 years. Did basic maint., painting, carpentry work, grass mowing/yard work, snow removal, equipment operator, Class 4 Engineer license, and basically anything that came up.
Retired now for 2.5 years. After graduating in 1976, I worked in a shop that made electric heating elements, was a paint stripper in a paint shop, pumped gas at a full service station, worked in a beef slaughter house, was a welder at Checker Motors, and probably others that I've forgotten. The old body ain't what it used to be, 2 heart stents, and a hip replacement, and rotator cuff surgery has slowed me down, but I'm not done yet! Been trapping since I was about 15.

Making big concrete smaller for over 40 years while living my bucket list in my off times.

83 YO this year and still going and reminiscing over my 50 years rattling around on a snow machine trapping!

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

Own a precast concrete plant. Made septic tanks, grease traps, and steps. Installed them, plus about 200 other items. My dad and grandfather started it in 1948. I been there as a kid about 12 years and full time 40 years. Plus, take care of rental properties and a cattle farm. I try to get in a little trapping , hunting and fishing!! Sometimes it’s tuff!

Well that's not very nice. Come on man. Think about his husband. He probably works really hard somewhere.

I’ve been a commercial and industrial electrician for 33 years , jobs range anywhere from schools to recently a 1.5 million sq foot warehouse /factory with all the equipment which is a solar factory, next is a 200,000 sq foot 2 story addition on a church . I’ve hook up a lot of interesting equipment over the years and met some really good people .

My first job at 13 was at a cemetery. My job was to stand on the vault in the ground and shovel and tamp the dirt around the edges of the vault as the backhoe dropped in the dirt. Didn't pay very well, but never got any complaints from the customers.
I dabbled in teen modelling when I was a senior in High School. Caught a lot of flack from the guys for it, but the gals dug it.
I was a trim carpenter for a couple of summers while in college.
After college I was employed as Forest supervisor for a power company.
Then was a supervisor for a tree and shrub care company.
After that I started my own tree and shrub care business.
I can't tell y'all what I have been doing for the past 23 years. I would say that I'd tell y'all after I retired, but that won't work because I don't ever want to retire. It will probably be listed in the obituaries.

Retired from the day job not too long ago after spending little over 30 years in the broad field of labor/employee relations. In everyday lingo I spent alot of time in my early career negotiating labor contracts and dealing with general legal employment issues like work comp, unemployment, ADA, FMLA, anti-union campaigns, etc. Overtime my area of expertise became strategic employment analysis which is a fancy way to say that I went to struggling manufacturing facilities to assess all realms of staff strengths and weaknesses from top management down including 3rd party players (unions and their politics) to make recommendations regarding potential changes to the organization. Then would run teams to implement structural changes. Saw many facilities reorganized to profitability, others shuttered for good, new plants opened (typically in the south), etc. A few years back the handwriting was on the wall that large % of manufacturing strength in the US was going to slip away and I made a switch to doing same type of work in large University hospital/healtcare settings. That field isnt going away but it is in constant flux and full of absolute incompetence.

In last couple of months been receiving lots of inquiries trying to con me back into work to analyze short vs long term scenarios within manufacturing given the less than stable current economic climate. But as Borat said, I'm mentally retarded now. Have no interest in that level of stress.

During college I did construction making and installing fake rocks and trees for zoos, theme parks and restaurants. Then worked in a factory making molds/formliners for concrete bridges and retaining walls. After college worked at a paper mill for almost 20 years. The mill was just shut down and now am starting a new job making PPE for construction workers.

I’m mostly just a retired Marine but we bought an RV Park and then another with a motel, bar, and restaurant. I build pole barns 2 days a week also. I trap quite a bit and it stays profitable.
