This past July my wife and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary and did I get surprised!

Our Anniversary was on a Sunday and that Wednesday before I mentioned the ole Ford was gonna need to hit the shop the following Monday. She replied “Nope”. Well, after being married almost 29 years I figured I just hit her on a bad day. So that Friday she asked what I had planned for Saturday and I told her in a gruff way I was going to the plantation and I’d probably need a wrecker service to bring me home! I then TOLD her the truck was going in the shop on Monday whether she liked it or not!! In response, I got a “whatever” and “it will NOT be in the shop Monday!!”

Saturday morning she gets up and dressed pretty nice for a weekend at 0930 and said why don’t you just stay home and watch CJ, she had some errands to run! She leaves and I’m fuming!! After a few hours I try calling and it goes straight to voicemail. I look on Life360 and she’s logged off from that. I go to FindMy and she’s off of that as well. Now I’m really fuming!!!

This rocks on until about 7:45pm she calls and as I’m trying to give her a piece of my mind she just says shut your pie hole and go outside! I walk out the door and Brennan, Kayla, and Ellie Jane are there. I immediately said “Your momma ain’t home and has been gone ALL day!!” Brennan puts his arm on my shoulder and said, “It’ll be alright” I said, “your momma left the house at 0930 and just called!”

About that time I see a beautiful truck coming down our road and thought some lucky turd has that and I’ve got a 25yr old truck with 474,867 miles on it! I have to admit, I might have had a tear come up when it pulled in my driveway with my wife behind the wheel. Brennan put his hand on my shoulder again and said, “This was long overdue.” The wife gets out with a cat eating grin and throws me the keys and says “Happy Anniversary”

This fool and boys had been looking for months for a used Tacoma, but my wife was thinking she’d let it sit on the lot and the price come down. She learned they aren’t Fords and Chevrolets and “sit” on lots, lol. They had found this one in Jacksonville Florida and sent a down payment to hold it A day, lol. This joker had more bells and whistles than I knew what to do with. I had to sit in the driveway watching YouTube videos to figure all the controls out, lol.

It’s a 2022 XP 4x4 with the V6. My first Toyota (she and the boys has asked if I ever got a “new” truck what would I get and I told them I’d downgrade in size to a Tacoma)

Congrats ! You'll never own another style truck , Gotta 2008 with 411,00 miles still using it on the line everyday .

I’ve only had one. Probably wouldn’t own anything else moving forward. Bought it new in 2011. Just hit 210k miles. Hopeful to get another 200k outta her.

The 22 with the 3.5 v6 is about as good as they'll ever be. I had almost the same truck, car seats didn't fit and we has to trade it in for mom mobile.

2 personal trucks are 2004 small taco’s. ( I prefer the older ones)

Not that I doubted the gift, but good to read the stories of present and past owners.
Anyone have a Decked system in theirs? I had a camper shell on the Ford but would rather not put one on this truck. I’m thinking the deck with a big drawer would do everything I need. Worst case is I buy some extra waterproof containers.

I didn’t have any luck with mine. I bought it new 2025 13 months ago and after one summer checking wells I had to trade it. Pretty disappointing. The dealer said I just drove in to much dust

I’m on my second 4x4 Tacoma. This one is a 2010, has an extended cab and has just crossed the 245,000 mile mark. It will out-last me, I’m sure.

My wife’s truck. She likes it! It’s a 2022.

I've had my 6 spd. TRD-pro since '19. She gets me where I want to go, and back again. I checked out the deck systems for my bed, then decided to build my own to better suit my personal needs.

I have a 2019 Tacoma with a decked system and a shell. It suits my needs for trapping, hunting and fishing. Great truck.

I've had a tacoma for the last 28 years. Great trucks. The older I get the more I want a tundra. Just hit my head more getting in the Tacoma. Toyotas have the best resale there is.

Went from a F250 crew cab 4x4 to my Tacoma.
If we ever get another RV I will get a bigger truck but will probably keep this Tacoma until it falls apart

I made the mistake of having them put on the tires that were listed in the door sticker. Won't do that again.

I have had a toyota pickup in some capacity since I was 16. They are the perfect hunting truck. I am driving an '09 Gen 2 now and I'm creeping up on 300k miles.

Drove it from NC to Vermont, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Kansas, South Florida 3 times, and soon will drive it to Canada. I am probably forgetting a couple trips.

She's been a good one. I'd kill for it to be the 6' bed version though

240k miles on my '03 Taco and going strong!

Got a 94 no rust front end I just replaced everything from CV axles, pitman arm, idler, tie rod assembly on both side, shocks etc. Not a Tacoma but still a great truck.

Wife’s 4-runner just got a set of KO3’s, they told us the KO2’s were no longer available too.

Had that exact truck but a ‘92 back in the mid 90’s. The 3.0 motor was pretty puny but the manual transmission helped. I had 33” tires under it didn’t help either.

I have owned one, loved it. Yet at 80K miles the rack and pinion went, then the front main. So, even though I liked it a lot, I went to the Nissan Frontier. that one was a 4WD. put 165K miles on it and in the past month I sold it and got a new 2WD Nissan Frontier.

The Toyotas have had an issue with the rack and pinion for many years and they have never resolved the issue.

I've shown this one before. It's a 2000 model with the 3.4 v6 engine and 5sp manual transmission. This picture was taken shortly before I gave it away this year. It had 726,000+ miles on it. The only engine work done was changing valve cover gaskets twice. The rack and pinion only had to be replaced once, and that was at around 400,000 miles. The man who owns it now really takes good care of it. He had a new windshield put in, a new rear bumper and tires. He loves the thing.

Before this one, I had a 95 Tacoma with the same motor and transmission. It had 529,000+ miles on it when I sold it.

Tacomas have served me well, but now I'm driving Tundras. My 2010 has 332,000+ miles on it and is my trapping truck. My 2016 only has 130,000 on it, and it's my road truck.

Got an '04 w 228K on it to go w/ my V-6 '23 new one... got the 2.4l... frame is getting a little rough and likes oxygen sensors every once in a while. I got it 6+ years ago for $4,900 and it's still going strong.

I bought a new Tacoma a few years ago and it was just too small for my liking. Traded for a Tundra and wish I would have done it sooner.

Savell, I was told the same thing about those tires. Even though you can look them up online, they aren’t available.
Some really good looking trucks too! Hoping this last my lifetime. I don’t have many trips planned and have only put about 2500 miles on since I got it.

got a '03 crew cab, 122K on it, frame is rough but its an awesome hunting truck.
