Alright, I bought two momentary footpedals for my electric Harbor Freight 440 pound hoist. I want to know how to wire it together. The pedals all have a red wire, a white wire and a black wire coming out. And the cord coming out of the hoist has a black, red, white, blue wires and a capacitor with a red and black wire.

Any advice is appreciated

It's way more complicated than you'd think. I know how to do it with a different type of switch, but not with those.

Personally I never saw any need. I can skin a coon in 1:22 start to finish with the hand controller and not sure how a foot pedal shaves much time off that.

Replace the momentary switch that came with the controller with a continuous 3 position switch. (Up-Off-Down). Interrupt the hot lead to the switch and wire in your foot control.

Yup, that’s what I did. Has worked good. I think the one in your pic is just on/off. You need up/off/down. Mine is like this:

Had to ask my dad. It took him about a hour of playing with it, but got it figured out.

Glad he got something figured out. I told you it was overly complicated.

I wired my hoist to a foot pedal and have the option on using either/or. Can't remember how I wired it but it was trial and error. Lots' of error. Threw the foot control in the garbage after 2 or 3 failed attempts to wire it in. Momma didn't raise a quitter so next day pulled foot pedal out of garbage can and tried again. Voilà, it worked. Mounted my critter grabber contraption, that I bought from ADC, to the floor and life was grand. Hope you figure it out quicker than I did and avoid electrocution.
