The coons I’ve caught in #120’s have not been pretty. All caught by a front leg.

Lotta the guys I've seen be successful with them bend the triggers in a way it had for them to set it off with there arms. I I remember right scott Adams had that tactical 5x5 flick and he cut the triggers down to like three inches did the T deal ... Kept it on the top .

Best way j heard it said was just use them like your neck snaring them....but you gotta be good at neck snaring coon lol

There is no sense in doing this when there are better and appropriate traps for the job. Go with 220s, or at a minimum the 160s,

160 or 220 snail if legal in your state. Something like using traps to large or small may work sometimes but its a very good way to have problems that can put trapping in a bad light to the public.

Something simple as wiring a trap off tight to a tree instead of making a loose loop so a coon can't go up the tree with the trap. Its something I learned the hard way.

I agree with the bigger traps BUT....in this days of high skunk prices I'm sure he is interested in using a "multi-purpose" trap and set. The coon I have caught in the 120s/155s have been mostly mediums, larges and a few XLs....no bigger jumbos. The Belisle 120 will put their lights but IF you are planning on going a smaller trap go with the 155.

I've caught a few in a 120, but they were smaller sized. A 110 lacks the holding power of a 120. The best choices are a 160 or a 220 if it's legal in your state.

I wouldn't even think of intentionally setting for coons with those. 110's, to me, are a water trap only, no dry land purpose. 120s are for mink and skunks. Sure, a coon might get into a skunk set, but if I am setting for coons, its a 160 (220's here are not legal on dry land unless enclosed and set back).

And anchor those 120's. An arm caught coon is going to fight.

A 160 is a great coon trap and will catch every skunk that sticks its head in the trap. I would never set a 120 or a 110 for coon in fact I wouldn't set them for rats.

Because of our 5" law I made a dozen boxes per a Bob Noonan article but never really clicked for me. I added a spring to some 5" NW and put safety latches on. Caught a few... I think there's a better way, especially if you have big coon.
