Had one of my trail cameras set on video my buddies reader could not download it so I took it home to view on my PC that’s set up for that. 73 videos mostly deer lots of does, dink bucks, coon, squirrels and turkeys but one good buck. Theres another buck that heavier in the area but not as wide and tall as this one. I’d like to download the video but I lack the talent to do such a thing I need to sit down and learn how to do it I have a pile of bobcat and spotted skunk videos I’d like to post. All the technology out there and things seem to get harder and harder. (for me at least.) lol

Been tough going here too. We got a few good ones on cam but not as many as we are use to.

Best bucks we have seen in years it’s usually “dink city, basket rack central” not great genetics there even with the abundance of acorns plus we added several food plots in the last few years not sure if that’s a factor or not. We have a good buck at another location we never had that many good deer to go after like this season it’s usually one deer we are hoping to run into.

Here in sw Wisconsin, things are heating up with rut activity. I haven't been out much - working too much again! Anyways, I guage things by water consumption. up until 2 weeks ago, 50 gallon water tanks were good for 2-3 weeks. Now they are going through about 50 gallons in 4 days. I had to turn my cell cam notifications off. Its been 24/7 for the last week

We tried a lot of items to plant for our food plots the best ones so far are winter wheat and local purchased clover, with the recent heavy rains it’s the best it’s ever been. The fancy bag stuff has never produced well almost nonexistent so far with 2 different types of clover and winter greens.

I tried a lot of big name mixes over the years and learned a huge lesson - I spent way too money. After 35+ years of building habitat on my farm I identified that different plants do very well (or worthless) in different areas. Even within WI, stuff that works good for me here in SW is not the same as what works well in SE or up north. Additionally, a number of different plants don't get hit untill killing frost/snow and the begin to sugar.

Ethiopian cabbage is probably the only one I found to be a good source everywhere we've plantedf it. For here (near 100 acre), my go-to things are 2 acres oats, 3 acrea standing corn throughout winter, 17 acre mix of corn and alfala srtrips, two seperate plots ajoining bedding areas are about 1/2-3/4 acre each mix of kale, Ethiopian cabbage, soy beans, turnips, and beets. The turnups and beats don't get touched much until the ground begins to thaw in the spring.

My area is a big gravel pit with limited top soil but we did the agronomy testing plus added lime and fertilizer. Starting to get better results from our efforts now but any radish or turnip crops won’t do well here more top less bottom plants work the best we pick a lot of rock’s every time we turn soil it’s a work in progress.

Beauty Dozer!! Thanks for sharing Law Dog. Food plots are really not a thing here, but if they were and I actually put one in, it would be canola or some other brassica. Right now any early harvested canola field that has regrowth due to shelling of pods is absolutely polluted with deer and moose. That stuff handles frosts like nobody's business and stays green and palatable right through the hard months.

No they are from central MO north of the Ozark’s lots of deer mostly hardwood forests with a lot of oaks that makes for some tasty venison. Not known for holding the bigger bucks but we know of 3 shooters. I’ll get a doe for the freezer and a buck if one catches my eye and things work out.

I don't think I've gotten a pic of anything even close to a hundred inches this year. Kind of depressing. I didn't like the idea of it when they introduced the three point rule but I have to admit we had bigger deer. It didn't take long after getting rid of it do to cwd to get back to mostly dinks.

The county I’m in has a 4 point on one side rule it’s a pain trying to count points when they are on the move. I’m not sure how many I’ve passed on not sure if it’s 100% legal the bigger deer are somewhat easier at times but even they can be a challenge at times the brow points are really tough to pick up sometimes.
