Forty years ago I met a cute French Basque gal who walked into my store looking for a used shotgun for duck hunting. She came to the states at 18 with $200 and some school taught English to be a nanny in New Jersey, like a lot of young French girls did back in the day. We started a business and bought our first house before we were married.
No regrets.... in fact we worked side by side for many years and she's a big part of why I'm not a 66 year old drunk fishing guide in western Montana living in a double wide down by the river.
Beaverpeeler and Newhouse... I always enjoyed my fishing trips in Central and South America, and met some great folks along the way.
Bad women exist everywhere and the good ones too. Marriage seems to be the primary way for most folks to find out which is which.
Pete I was hoping you would chime in Pete! Great short version of how you got together with your soul mate.

Hey Wolfie, that's pretty good right there.
I'll tell you what, I think I would have dated a typical American gal for months to get to the point of understanding what they want and if it fits in with what I would have in mind.
My little Colombiana told me in the first email that was exchanged exactly what she was looking for, what she would bring into the union, and if that didn't work for me to basically go pound sand!. It was so darn refreshing to have her just up and say she wanted a man to support her, and she would cook and clean, help me raise my son, be a traditional wife....kind of like how I grew up at home.
No beating around the bush or game playing involved.

I believe it's the natural role of a husband to lead. Thats a far cry from a tyrant. I value my wifes opinion. Don't think I would be happy with a completely submissive woman.

fair enough...I don't know you. (would like to meet you guys one day).
but that's what it sounded like. and in the couple cases I'm familiar with, that's what the guy was hoping. (it REALLY didn't work out that way for one of them...his wife became completely "American-ized") I kind of know what you're talking about. I think some guys have this fantasy about what it would look like for them to have a pretty, and submissive mate. Where marriages really work is where you have a partnership built upon mutual respect. Chuck went back to Costa Rica, learned to speak Spanish, immersed himself somewhat in his wive's culture. In my case my wife and I decided that Spanish is the language we speak in our home. She took all the English classes available at the local community college but never could really completely master our language because she started so late in life (42). Give and take.

I feel sorry for young people of both sexes in this day and age... especially if they're conservative.... when it comes to trying to find a spouse. With the majority of young white women being blue-haired, nose-ringed, tatted up liberal feminists, I could understand why young conservative men many need to look to another country to find a mate. But, young conservative women also have an ever-decreasing pool of masculine men to choose from.... with many young "men" today not even knowing how to do basic things like change a tire.

Same , the idea of having a partner that just 100% always agrees with you and does whatever you want without question is beyond weird to me ... Most guys I've known to want that definitely have issues. At that point it's like your living with a yes person and ..idk I need kick back

As soon as I saw Savell was the last poster I knew it was gonna be a zinger. LOL
Or would you rather I'd made that submission in Castellano?
And Yotetrapper...by golly, it's refreshing to agree 100% with you on a thread. LOL

No beating around the bush or game playing involved. Yeah I couldn't deal with the "average" or "normal" American woman . All the guessing games and long drawn out whatever's.... The guys around .my age will tell me all the crap they do trying to date or dealing with there women and I'm just here like Idk though we where friends before we dated , seems many skip over that step first that might be it

I believe it's the natural role of a husband to lead. Thats a far cry from a tyrant. I value my wifes opinion. Don't think I would be happy with a completely submissive woman. The problem is your reading submissive as be subservient. In fact is seting back and allowing the husband to lead. I value and discuss thing with the wife and take her opinion in acount. She is smart and I married her for a reason. But when or if there is a difference of opinion I make the call. There can only be one person in charge. In order for her to submit I must be doing my job. The other part of the verse love her like myself. She has to have confidence in my abilities to make good decisions that put the family first. If Im mot doing my part she won't be able to be submissive and do hers. Being submissive is not a negative thing its a feminine trait. Its not being a slave or walked on its being able to relax and let the man take care of the things that are his job and she takes care of her part. . Today's women tend to want to be masculine take charge and lead, be abrasive and argue.

Actually wife was talking me about how she was chatting with some British women around our age over on a Discord group . Apparently marriage got brought up and a lot of em where upset because most of the guys in there age group are trying the whole pass port bro thing ( when you go to another country and bring a woman back basically because she can get citizen ship ) or dating immigrant women folk if they could. According to them it's because they don't because they usually are happy to cook , clean , be more submissive..... You know the traditional type of wife vibe . Well wifey asked em if they know the issue and are so upset about it.... Why don't they ... You know ......start being more traditional .... Well apparently that WASN'T the right question to ask I just met my youngest brother's English girlfriend today. I have talked to her on the phone before. I really like her. She's bright, well spoken and kind. They met on a cruise that toured Italy and Greece. Her grandfather had several businesses, one of which was a travel agency and she had been in most countries before she was 18. Her grandfather also bred thoroughbreds and other horses, so she's competed in most equestrian events. She's going to move here in June after she finishes her second Master's degree. My brother is going to to visit her at Christmas at her families estate. The oldest parts of her family's house are over 400 years old. She's coming back in January. I'm hoping they give me some more nieces and nephews to spoil. Keith

Everytime I see a hot foreign looking gal with a 300lb guy I think mail order bride. Funny thing, I was in the waiting room at Immigration Services one time with my wife being interviewed for citizenship. As I looked around the waiting room all the Americans (or most of them) were either butt ugly, fat, old or a combination of all of those. The foreign spouses were all were pretty darn good lookers. (Of course, there are exceptions.....ME!)
