Especially when they are practically giving them away...

It'll go in the display case/coffee table I made with my dad's butcher knives and the others I've collected over the years...

Still using some of those, especially the saw I do have a Jarvis but the hand saw is just handier.

I'm a sucker for those old carbon blades. Especially if they have small steel pinned handle scales

Sweet collection.

I've got, I think three more of those saws. I use them for deer when I don't feel like getting out my sawsall.

I've got a bunch of old knives and bone saws, most of them are boxed up currently. Here's a couple that I picked up in Spencer that I haven't cleaned up yet. The Ontario on the bottom is my favorite beaver knife, harder than a brick bat and she holds an edge. [Linked Image]

You may need to re-handle that big slicer Sam, assuming its not great under the tape. That skinner is nice, I'd picked it up too if the price was right.

It definitely needs re-handled, just haven't got to it yet. The skinner was the right price, I told the old boy that owned it that it's be a fine beaver knife, and he liked that a dumb kid appreciated it, so he gave it to me. I've skinned a pile of beaver with it.

Is that $1.00 knife on top an Ontario Jayme?

I have a couple that look like that.

I believe so. It was nearly sharp enough to shave with when I picked it up too.

Thanks guys. Dad used to custom butcher for guys 65-70 years ago. He'd go to their farms with my granddad and slaughter hogs and beef and butcher them on location.

Nice looking bunch of knives. I have quite a few, myself. Gotta Love those old carbon steel butcher knives. They are the best kitchen knives ever made, in my opinion.

This one's still sitting in the sink from cutting deer last night.

Nice, you should feel bad only paying a dollar for that one!

I have about a dozen butcher knives, pretty much what ya got there. Any of those a "sticker"?

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Yes sir there is one and there's another one that dad used for that but it's not named that. I remember him sharpening it with a file to put a sort of serrated edge on it, not like the serrations you see today but a sort of rough edge that was still very sharp. It was only sharp on one side so he'd stick them then turn it over and cut the other way, very quickly. Was my job, when he did a couple for us later on, was to hold the front legs back quickly right after the shot so he could stick them. I'll get some more clear pictures later today.
