It's a hooded skunk instead of a striped skunk..I sold 2 of them last year for 20 a piece.

Thank you. I didnt know it was called a hooded skunk.
Im hopimg the white tail.brings a premium.

I picked it up off the road yesterday going to clarksburg. Head hit..no tears, and prime.

Jerry was happy as heck

groeny says more white on tail is better also the length of the white hairs on the tail matters. i sold one yesterday for 30bucks just skinned not fleshed and the tail wasnt ideal. if it wouldve had longer white hairs at the tip of tail hed have gone 40 easy he said.

I believe that hooded skunks are only found in the extreme SW of the US. The skunk pictured is what the fur trade terms a "broad stripe". Back in the early 1900's they were the lowest value since at that time they would cut out the white stripe and just use the black portions of the skin. The narrower and shorter the stripe the more valuable they were.[Linked Image]

You are correct waggler. Look up a map showing the range. They are now were near VA.
