Any mechanics here, I have a 2008 Edge AWD its making a very loud noise when driving down the road. Everyone I talked to said wheel bearing noise as it gets quieter when turning (right turns especially), louder with more speed. It's for sure coming from the front end. However I just had the bearings replaced on both sides even though they didn't seem bad. The sound never changed. The tire rod ends were also replaced as they had a little play in them. The noise remains the same. I was thinking maybe CV axels? but there's no popping sounds I am told is associated with it. You can barely hear it at low speeds and the sound gets increasingly louder with speed, to the point you can't hardly hear anything else. I don't want to keep throwing money at it and hoping it'll fix it, but I need to do something.
If anyone knows what it is, I sure would like the help.
If you have any further questions or advice on this issue, just let me know.
Also, in a possibly related question,,, there is a loud clunk when going from drive or park to reverse unless you completely come to a stop and pause for a second or two, then it doesn't do it. This has been going on for quite sometime, maybe a couple years, but the other noise has progressively gotten louder over the last few months. If you could help diagnose the cause of this I'd greatly appreciate it too. (engine mounts seem solid if that matters)
Definitely sounds like a wheel bearing from what I could here on the video. I would check the rear wheel bearings since turning changes the load on the rear bearings although not as drastically as it does to the fronts. Being load sensitive makes me lean toward a wheel bearing.
Your entitled to oxygen. Everything else is earned.

It's for sure coming from the front but I just had the bearings replaced and made zero difference in the sound. The old bearings weren't even in bad shape.
Sounds like a wheel bearing, bit of you had them replaced, then it obviously isn't the cause
. Regarding the clunk, it could be an engine mount, even if they appear visually okay. The passenger side mount (on what would be the front of the engine) on those engine will sag and grounds itself out so that it's basically metal in metal. When they get that way they make a buzzing sound that could possibly sound sorta-kinda like a wheel bearing, but it likely wouldn't change with side-to-side turning. That mount is easy to check, just jack up the motor and remove it, it'll be glaringly obvious. The mount on the trans can go bad too, but I didn't see those as much.
Is it all wheel drive? If so......the PTU (power transfer unit, aka transfer case) could very likely have failed. I replaced tons of them on police cars, which are basically the same drivetrain as that edge. They're tucked up under the rear catalytic converter, where they just roast in all that heat, and only half about half a quart of gear oil in them. The gear oil cooks and turns into a gelled sludge, and they make all kinds of grinding sounds, along with clunking sounds when shifting like you described.
I had an AWD Subaru a few years ago that I thought had a front wheel bearing noise.
Took my mechanic for a ride after he looked at the tires. He was 100% convinced it was the right front tire. Very slight inside/outside edge wear on that one tire.

That definitely sounds like a wheel bearing and exactly the way a wheel bearings act when you turn.
Check to see if the tires are choppy on the inside or outside edge. Rotate the front tires to the back and take it for a drive and see if the noise moves to the rear. Ive seen many times where you think it’s a wheel bearing but is the tires making the noise.
Anyone that owns a gun and votes democrat deserves to have there gun taken, cause they truly are too stupid to own a gun.

Check the rear wheel bearings. Jack it up, put it in drive, have a helper spin it up to 25-30mph, climb underneath with a stethoscope and listen to each side. Sometimes noises transfer and things in the rear can sound like the front, and vice versa. They usually don't have play in them, they're just noisy.
The rear wheel bearing are a big pain in the butt. Ford puts some sort of locking compound on them to essentially glue them in. Once they're unbolted, heat up the knuckle where it won't damage anything with a torch, and wail on it with a sledgehammer, it'll move eventually. There's a special tool made for removing them, we had one at the shop but I could never get it to work properly, it would always (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) sideways because the bearings were just too stuck.
