Got some Molle bags and belt today to attach to my pack basket. I like the ole pack basket, but it felt a lot like I thought of a pocket book (catch all) during the first uses. So I'm trying to think of how to make it more functional to decrease my time setting the line. I looked around for upgrades and found nothing prior to doing something I liked. Anyway, first post on the trapperman, hope y'all can get something from it.

First thing I do is stain the pack so it doesn't stand out like a white light in the field.

Good point. Think I might do that.

Can always use more pockets. I cut out pockets from jackets or old blue jeans and attached them to the basket.

I like the idea. Looks good. I’d need pouches without the net-type material though. Too much stuff would grab on it going through the brush.

I also like the idea of staining the pack. Don’t know that I’ve ever seen one intentionally stained though. Do any of you using pack baskets out of natural materials stain or paint them?

I trap for fun. I skin 'em for the money!

I actually tie a couple bright colored bandanas ti mine. Our deer gun season runs along with trapping. A brown or tan basket bobbing around on your back is not a good idea here. I don't know about NC.

I put quite a few coats of thinned out linseed oil on my new pack to start with. It's then good for years if not decades
