Sounds like you and your spouse need to treat your friend to a really nice dinner.

Looks like a Bridgeport Vertical Mill to me, a very HUGE score! The workhorse of any machine shop. Wait till you go to buy the collets/tooling etc for it, LOL.

Yes that's it. Our tool room at work has a few of them and you can do many different things on them. Very good score!!

That's a little vertical knee mill. Looks like a Bridgeport. Or maybe an Index. Has a power feed on the table. Look at the motor under and to the right of the table. That be your power feed motor.

All kinds of stuff you can do with that mill. Cut dovetails in rifle barrels for sights..... Make breech plugs for muzzleloaders.......Drill and tap receivers for scope mounts............On and on and on..............................

Don't be too distressed if you find it has a 3 phase motor(s) on it. You can buy a 3 phase to single phase converter for it for under 100 bux.
Now you need a lathe.

I bought an old Index 40 mill, about that size and NOT in that good of shape some 5 years ago for $1100.00. I had to do a lot of work to mine to get it in shape; it had been abused. So WD did very well indeed.

New up to 10-11 grand, depending on the extras on it.

When you move that, DON'T lay it down on it's side and don't let it tip over in/on the trailer. Use plenty of ratchet straps or rope and cinch it down good.

Oh.............Right up front he's gonna need a vice, that's at least $100 for a Grizzly. Good enough but there is better out there..
T nuts, end mills, collets, jacobs chucks, dial indicators to tram with, way oil....................................

$700 to $1000 would put him in pretty good shape.
It's never ending. There will always be something you don't have.
