Salvation army and family or people who need it. A lot of churches now are money based.

Loving every day as it comes.

The problem with giving to the wrong charities is it’s a business ran by professional collocation people that take a percentage of the donations then sell your personal information as many times as they can so the begging is never ending. I do the red kettle at Christmas time just drop in and walk away no info shared and they are a reputable outfit.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Recently support a local Boy Scout troupe. Their facility was completely washed away by Hurricane Helene. We gift directly from our IRA, thus it is never taxed and the distribution counts toward our MRD.

Oh , and don't even ask me if it involves animals , unless it's a bounty......lol

I prefer to donate when I see a need without being asked. Little things like a friend a church 2 years younger than Me died of cancer within 6 months of finding out. His wife and kids are great and they have always been tight on funds. When church camp came along I went to the Youth leader man paid for the kids camp to be sure they could go and their mom would have just a little less stress with one thing Not having to worry about. there's is more than money also service. Making sure they had fire wood. That reminds me to have the wife reach out.

I like St Jude. Sick kids really hit me hard in my soft spot.

I agree with you on St Jude. We've donated to them in the past.

There was this bar that was so rough they checked you for a gun and if you didn't have one, they gave you one.

Charitable giving by both afflluent and non affluent individuals has been decling every year since 2014. This is also happening while government funds for those in need is dropping as well.
Interesting to note that affluent individuals are volunteering again post COVID but still well below earlier levels.
It appears to me we are becoming a less charitable culture be it private sector or public sector.

I donate my time and talents to my local Parish and help to form a stronger, more lasting faith-based community.

… one of the things they use the money for is kids that can’t afford church camp to get to go

… I was a little skeptical as when I was a kid I went to church camp and one of the counselors had all the boys get naked so he could check them for ticks

… guess I had a good gaydar even at a young age… as I slipped out the back and stayed all night fishing

.. felt bad for the ones I left behind lol
