Interesting! Times were tough and times have changed through the years.

The winter of 1887–88 was brutal in the Dakotas, and just a few weeks earlier (January 12, 1888) the infamous Children’s Blizzard killed hundreds of people.

Gotta remember, the gubment says there has been no human death by wolves in the US ever. I read that "quote" quite often. Living in Colorado wolves are a really big topic of conversation. When game is scarce and wolves are plentiful, seems to be the trigger for attacks around the northern hemisphere, Russia, Europe, North America. This could possibly begin again in North America, (with enough wolves).

ND used to give out 140,000 deer tags a few year ago and give out 40,000 now, and we have very few wolves. I think the wolves are blamed for a lot that they don't do. But, I don't talk to the guberment as often as most of you do.

Gotta remember, the gubment says there has been no human death by wolves in the US ever. Old timey news papers were known for their blatant lies. Like today's media. I trust the media even less than the govt. And I trust ai even less than the media.

The wolves were feeding on the dead solders in WWl, they even called a temporary truce so they could kill off the wolves before they started shooting each other again. I thought they were killing live soldiers at night too

Nope sorry three toes was caught in 1925, after a 13 year rampage. Pampered house dogs live to 13 plus or minus. What's the average lifespan of a wolf subjected to the vicissitudes of northern plains winters? I bet it wears them out sooner.
