Do Grandkids count? Little blacktail , this is my son in laws first deer. He did not grow up in a hunting family, he got a nice 5 point elk last year. Now my daughter likes to hunt also and she had her 2 year old out with her the last week of season but did not find one she could deal with. She has gotten deer by herself though.

Just thinking about it, i dont have any deer guns ready to go that are mine. My Tc Hawkins needs a taller front sight hits 6" low since I replaced the last fiber optic sight thet broke. found out it was taller. It fell and cracked the stock I need to repair that. My 260 scope is not on it. Used the scope since it was know good when havein issues geting a new gun/scope combo zeroed. Removed the optic from the equation of things that may be bad.
My marlin 357 shoots left with open sights and Its been adjusted almost maxed out by the previous owner so it needs a scope. But There are a lot of deer guns to chose from all that are the kids all sighted in and ready to go. I think there are at least 2 to 1 on deer guns probably more im forgetting about.

O dad I have not bought myself a gun in a long time even the last few suppressors are for the kids.
Maybe I need to change that but then I think about it and realize I don't shoot or mess with what I have so why. Add what I would like(m1 grand or m1 A) is best with open sights and my eyes not like they used to be SO I dont.

Last gun I bought a Savage Axis in 350 legend and the result. Not a F.A.G.

No 6.5 Manbun here.

Killed em with lots of different cartridges. 32gr up to 400gr bullets. Yesterday afternoon, this was my first with the 6.5 Creedmoor. Worked just like the rest. Drilled the shoulder. He was dead before he snowplowed 20' in the leaves.

I don't have a fondness for a 6.5 creedemore any more than other calibers I own. A buddy gave me this rifle for helping him frame up a cabin. I've probably killed a dozed deer with it and 5 or 6 feral hogs. One 265 lber. I can't recall any not having an exit wound honestly. Maybe one of the hogs. I don't remember which bullet I've been shooting. A Hornady 120 or 125 grain with ballistic tip. Maybe eld's or cx, or sst??

Some of the comments by you southerners about not finding them are surprising as most of your deer wear skirts and weigh 80 lbs on the hoof. lol

I'll bounce around from year to year using different guns. We have a CWD season coming up and I'll probably pack my favorite rifle and the one I cut my teeth deer hunting with, a Winchester model 1894 .30-30.
