Not wanting this to be a political issue…
Just curious…
Why can’t the attorney general prosecute the case against comey herself?
Why does someone else need to do this?
I’m missing something.

Because Trump made another bad choice in hiring. Why did they wait so long to indict him? Why didn't they indict him in the Southern District of Florida where they would have had a better judge? Because Bondi wanted to make you think she was doing something when in truth she is not. They probably will let the Statute of limitations run out on this case.

I think the senate approved her because she's harmless and won't do anything important

Isn’t biondi able to prosecute the case herself legally? Or is the AG just a director??

Legally, the attorney general can personally prosecute a case.

Eh...wot?

"Halligan was named as a replacement for Erik Siebert, an interim US attorney who resigned in September amid the Trump administration's pressure to file charges against both Comey and James.

Judge Currie determined that Halligan's appointment violated the statute governing interim US attorneys. Under that law, the attorney general has 120 days to make an interim appointment - a period that began on 21 January with Siebert's designation, the judge noted.

When that 120-day window closed on 21 May, the attorney general's authority to appoint an interim replacement expired as well, Judge Currie wrote. As a result, Halligan "has been unlawfully serving in that role" since her 22 September appointment."

BBC.

Who's going to jail for this unlawful act? smile

All Bondi had to do was sign her name to the indictment, but she didn't. Halligan could have done all the work. Is that incompetence or purposeful? If the Justice Department had moved sooner, mistakes could have been remedied by bringing another indictment with Bondi's name on it but she waited until the last moment so the Statute of Limitations would end the case.

When was the last time, and how many times has an AG prosecuted a case themselves?
