Good job, we call them big does, purple steakers. The steaks in the rump are purple when they get a little older. Best eating ever.

Great hunt Cowboy and congratulations.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Thanks folks! Slipknot, my mom and sisters were at our house a few hundred yards away, they showed up while I was field dressing it (even though I told them to come once I had dragged it to the road; apparently my mom didn't see the text lol). Anyway, she piled up a hundred yards or so from the road so we dragged her to my sister's truck and threw her on the bed then drove to our house. Little easier than dragging her thru barbed wire fences and an extra couple hundred yards if we had decided to just drag as the crow flies

That deer makes my back hurt from looking at the picture. Reading the story of you dragging it by yourself made me have to lay down.

Congratulations, that is a lot of good eating right there!

Also as far as the comment about blood rusting your barrel, if you get blood on your rifle wash the area with hot water and dawn dishwashing detergent, after you have thoroughly scrubbed the area rinse is with almost boiling water, it will dry almost instantly and then treat it with whatever rust preventative you use on the rest of the exterior of your rifle.
