Targeting adult females is the key to getting a handle on the coyote population.

Some would say you can’t target a specific group. I believe you can to some extent.

This big girl is in her prime.

She is the fifth adult female in a row at this location.

Catching pups doesn’t make much difference. Catching the pup maker does.

Small terrain features can have a big impact on catch numbers.

How are those coastal coyotes treating ya' ?

Things are pretty slow right now. Some sets go a week or more without a visitor
One set l put a couple pieces of deer liver a friend gave me and it looked like a bomb went off.

I bet within ten days you see quite an increase in movement Leary.
Get more of that bait and stick with it.
It will beat the commercial stuff all night long.

Here is another solid female.

This makes back-to-back adult females at this set for a total of three.

This girl is the sixth consecutive adult female at this location.

As said earlier, I believe you can target the big girls to some extent.

There are times when the light is just right.

I have two Canon cameras that ride with me all the time.

These portraits were taken with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L lens.

The same man that made Coyotero back then.

Just spoke with Mr. Lucero this morning..

He still sounds pretty spry for a old Master Wolfer with so many miles of trap line behind him.

Speaking of old timers, I called in this big old male for a good friend a few days back.

There were no electronic gadgets on this outing.
Wile E, catches on to those same old sounds just like an overused lure on the line.
A few old school tactics had this fella inside thirty yards in about two minutes.

Just like with trapping; location, wind, and the right attractant make all the difference.

I hear a lot of folks say you cannot, catch or call in a coyote with a full belly. Don’t believe it for a second.

I would put this old male at eight or nine years old. The extreme lower canine wear suggests he might be a bit older.
