Caught a mink in a cage today a nice male he let me know he was not happy screeched and stunk it up a lot. Cut him loose not a lot of mink around here been seeing tracks on the banks when setting beaver sets so this stretch must hold a few because of the water from the dams. Did pick up a pair of Pepes and a bigger beaver so not a bad day on my little line.

I've only ever caught one in a cage and it screamed and screeched too constantly.

Mink just aren't worth much any way. Not many around my parts, some but not many and I would have released him also.

Pulled today picked up 2 more beavers.

Had a small female screech t me once very high and screechy

Had a mink still full of life in a leg hold under a tiny bridge. The screech was painful to the ear. Not as painful as that first time you touched yer 22 pistol off in a road culvert. But still painful.

They sure are. I caught one that was alive in a pocket set for a mink or coon quite a few years ago that was alive. Ear splitting screech!

That would be a really pale-colored mink around here

Brown colored here in SD but in MI they were chocolate brown almost black but half the size.

Very large dark mink in southeast Alaska. I have had many screeching mink over the years. All foot hold sets that didn't work on drowners or just blind sets that didn't provide a drowning opportunity. And most of those sprayed nasty mink juice. I knew I had a catch well before I got there.

I can still remember my first culvert shot coon that got tangled up in some debris. Geez, not a smart thing to do. Never did another one of those since that many years ago moment.

Seems we all have to learn that lesson the hard way. I had to do it a second time many years later but I plugged my ears with pieces of napkins. A big coon pulled my trap and railroad plate about 15 feet up into a 36" culvert. I had to crawl in a few feet to get a good shot with my pistol. With the napkins stuffed in my ears it didn't bother me at all.
