I am having a company from MN make me a pair of mittens with no thumb. The mittens will be designed that all finger will be together for better warmth. My hands just seem to not be able to take long hours outside. I have noticed that when wearing mittens if I don't use the thumb hole fingers and all fingers together do very well. I have those small hand warmers I place inside the mitten and I'm really good to go then.

It might sound crazy but no thumb mittens do work and I can still do many thing with them on. I will have a fur pair made if these seem to be the answer for me. What's your thoughts.

definitely warmer. a pair of light cotton gloves worn inside them when you pull your hand out for something will give you a little more time before you have to put them back on. if using a snowmobile can put a twist throttle on it.

Good idea. I have 2 fingers susceptible to frostbite from ice fishing without gloves in my misspent youth. I wear mittens a lot now and they really help.

I also use mittens that way because of cold thumb deal. Works fine in utv with steering wheel and foot gas paddle. Thumb takes a beating on atv where have thumb throttle. Have actually thought about a motorcycle type grip if used it more in winter.
But yes basically a bag type mitten would be nice for lots of situations.

Keeping the thumb with the rest of the hand will sure keep it warmer.

I guess I'd try regular mittens, and just keep the thumb in the main body, that way there would be a thumb if you needed it.

Danny's suggestion is good too, oversize mittens with a light glove inside.

Sure hope they work for you, cold hands make me miserable.

I know it sounds crazy but I have tested my madness of having cold fingers. I can do just about anything in the outdoors like running snow blower, ice fishing, running a snow machine, haul wood, drive any vehicle, running a shovel or chainsaw etc.

One thing I can say with the testing I have done it is better for me and still can do many things with all fingers together.

For me it is still an issue isolating one finger. If that method is it tight then I have an added issue for warmth. Great idea though for some that my be the answer.
