....if you went. And what did you major in? Degrees? I recently graduated summa cum laude from University of Maryland's Global Campus with a bachelor's in finance. I had, many years ago, earned an associate's in liberal arts at a community college when I was just out of high school. But then, stuff happened, and I never went further than that. It was actually the frequent financial posts here on tman that made me decide I wanted to go back to school and learn more about finance. Then I found out that my current employer, Lowe's, would pay 100% of my tuition to get my degree. The only catch was that the school selection was limited, and all of the schools offered were online programs. I didn't have a problem with it being online (in fact, that worked best for me), but I was a little embarrassed to have to go to a Big 10 school instead of an SEC school, lol. But I'll take a free, online Big 10 bachelor's any day over going tens of thousands in debt to get an on-campus SEC degree. I was a little surprised when a couple of people on here wanted to shoot down my effort to go back to school due to it being an online school instead of in-person. Those 2 were both liberal lawyers, btw, but I am sure that was a coincidence. But, apparently, my "fake" online degree was good enough for the admissions folks at Ole Miss, as I was quickly accepted into their on-campus MBA program, which I intend to pursue this coming summer. And then I'll even be able to say I am an SEC graduate afterall. But anyways.... I know we have a very diverse population of members on here, and was just wondering what ya majored in, and where ya went.

Those 2 were both liberal lawyers, btw, but I am sure that was a coincidence. It's a bachelor's from an accredited university. It surely counts. Your diploma doesn't have an asterisk and neither should your résumé. I imagine the liberal lawyers are credential-worshiping elitists who want a reason to look down on the accomplishments of others. I have an idea who at least one of those liberal lawyers is.

Congratulations Angela. I think you'll enjoy getting you MBA. Both my next youngest brother and brother in law got MBAs and greatly enjoyed the classes. Both, like you, got their MBAs years after getting their earlier degrees. My brother's hospital chain, Providence, paid for him to get his MBA, years after he got his medical doctorate, when he started getting more hospitals assigned to him. My brother in law's company paid for his MBA, when he rose higher in international management.
Do you know what you want to do with your MBA?
I went to the University of Dayton. I graduated in 3 1/2 years with a BA in Psychology and Minors in Marketing and Anthropology.
I took the LSAT years later and got a few answers wrong in 1 section, where I got misaligned, but aced the rest of it. I got offered a $28,000.00 a year scholarship at the University of Dayton, School of Law, the only school I applied to and took it. Because of bad family issues, I only went one year.

Masters of Natural Science. It is/was a real degree, for teachers who already had a BS degree. It was cobbled together for me so that the Geology Department could rationalize the 3 year full ride fellowship they had given me 3 years earlier. I just wasn’t a good fit for their regular Masters degree program with research and thesis and all. But this was the late 1960s, when equal rights for women was just becoming a thing at universities. It sure looked good on the department’s record that they gave the fellowship to a female. I was qualified (at least on paper) but there were several guys that were more qualified. And when it turned out the program and I just did NOT work well together, they couldn’t just let me ride into the sunset, they had to come up some sort of degree to give me. LOL Even though it was the geology department, the final paper I had to write was on lichens (biology stuff). My committee voted 2-1 to give me the degree. Fortunately, it didn’t have to be unanimous!! Just about the worst 3 years of my educational endeavors. I was not a very popular person amongst the graduate students in the geology department. The one other female grad student was much more of a “party person” than I was. Especially at the Friday night seminars at one of the local watering holes. LOL And now you know the rest of the story. I maybe don't quite understand all of your post, but from my understanding, that late 60's was a pretty wild time frame in this country, lol (I wasn't born yet). Good on you though for going to pursue higher degrees in a time when it was not common.....

Fredonia State College (SUNY) Did 3 1/2 years and stopped going to raise a family and work. Was majoring in geology and was also thinking about being a math teacher. Ended up running a farm and plastering/tile swimming pools

I started kindergarten with high expectations. Was being told I would learn to read better. (gramma had been teaching me to read and I loved it) First day we were told we were going to color. I hated coloring and told the teacher I wanted to read. Broke all my crayons so I wouldn't have to. Dad was not happy about that. Things went downhill after that. I was educated the old fashioned way. Went to work at 16. Worked at a truckstop. Long before self service. Learned a lot that has stood me well. I did attend the Air Force jet engine school at at Chanute AFB in IL. Learned a lot of useful stuff there as well.
Congratulations Angela.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
