It’s pretty amazing how $300 million became a $billion. It was federal money. Therefore, it should have had federal oversight. I gotta think there is PLENTY of blame to spread around.
The Somalis were American citizens. In a way it’s no different than the mafia and tax fraud; military contractors being caught gouging the military for laundry service or any of the other ‘feel good’ programs that turned out to be frauds. We got them. Most have been prosecuted and are doing prison time.
Ultimately the governor is held responsible. Tim Walz has been a decent governor. Yeah, our taxes are high but if things were as bad as some on here say, the state would be attracting a whole lot fewer people than it does. Even your excuses are lame. No big deal, only 300 M? No worse than the mafia? Walz has been.......decent? Yeh, taxes are high? Quite the endorsement. Nice try.

Hate to tell ELON this, but most of the fraud occurs in the field by private businesses and individuals. BTW I hear what you are saying. It gets ridiculous when they start exaggerating the numbers and start the blame game. The guy at the top isn't personally responsible for all the screw ups that happen while they are in charge, unless they made the program or prevented the application of require checks on compliance.

Tim Walz has been a disaster if you care at all about gun rights, wolf trapping fur trapping, and other outdoor issues. He talks about "follow the science" but signs a bill to ban commercial turtle trapping in Minnesota. He pushes for gun control every chance he gets. Signed a Red Flag law which up ends the Constitution by taking a person's guns without due process until AFTER the guns are seized.
As far as the Somali fraud, as others have pointed out, the state should have caught that right away. Supposedly serving 1000s of meals per day out of a tiny storefront These cases are being prosecuted by the US Department of Justice in Federal Court, Walz and his department heads are 100% to blame for the lax oversight, the Feds caught the fraud, not the state.
All this being said, Walz could very well be re elected. The Republican party is not very strong in Miinnesota. On statewide races, out state counties are always outvoted by the Twin Cities, Rochester, Duluth and St Cloud.

Covid fraud GAO"Hundreds of billions of dollars were likely lost to fraud during the pandemic. As of December 2024, the Department of Justice has charged more than 3,000 people, companies, and other entities with fraud-related crimes. Defendants were typically sentenced to prison, usually 1–5 years. Most were also ordered to pay restitution in varying amounts, with the highest over $71 million."

Good grief!,..no, most have not been prosecuted, more to come and hopefully convicted! The blame resides with the Dem leadership. It is no secret this has come to bare,..for those that have followed truthful media displays. Most state run media outlets have shyed away,..until it could no longer be ignored. Tim Waltz, a decent governor?

Im trying to figure out how so many PPP loans to fake companies were issued in the first place. We own a small business and yes we received a PPP loan, that didnt need to be paid back just like all of them. We had to show proof of back tax records along with other sources of paperwork for proof. From there, we only got a certain percentage of what our actual income for a given period was. Which means those who were getting large PPP loans had to show alot more income to justify the loan/grant they would receive. Every loan should have simply been checked with IRS records to prove the borrowers paperwork matched previous tax statements.

Oh no it's not only 300 million and it's not only the federal child nutrition program that got bilked. There is more coming out every day it seems. Some how the Democrat meat heads turned what was a 18 billion dollar surplus to what will be a deficit after this year. Only took them 2 years. Teacher's party managed to raise spending 40 percent 40 percent! Who got a 40 percent raise the last 2 years! Gerald hit the nail on the head. Walz is doing a horrible job and any Democrat father with daughters should be ashamed of the Democrats letting dudes in the girls bathrooms and playing girls sports. Ashamed!
