The police don't use sheepdogs. Anyhow, I've seen night vision videos of those Great Pyrenees killing the financial interests. (sheep) Granted not all do, but it probably happens more than you think.

Amazingly enough, I keep my vehicle in good shape (no blown lights or the like) and drive the speed limit. Haven’t been pulled over in +20 years.

Been checked by the Feds waterfowl hunting more than any other encounter. Stayed cordial and they go on their way.

Glad you survived it. Theres cops I don’t like either out there, a bad cop is a danger to other cops so they get weeded out ASAP it’s not for everyone it’s a very consuming profession some handle it better than others.

Not retired. Just a career change of sorts. Being a mechanic was just a paycheck for me. It had no meaning beyond that. Now I do something that has meaning to me. Wifey makes money now, at a job that has meaning to her beyond just a paycheck. She works at a youth prison of sorts, which is basically just an extension of what she did with her volunteer work before. And she's darn good at it too. Her facility houses the worst of the worst kids in the state, and she fights gang bangers and murders on an almost daily basis, along with talking them through the hardest parts of their lives like a caring mother, which these kids have never had. She's a legit badarse. She's already been promoted to lead others after less than a year, and is well on her way to becoming a supervisor. (I'm pretty proud of her, if you can't tell.)

Then I am really lucky. My last encounter with the police was in 1974 when i got a ticket for doing 35 in a 25 zone. I was going downhill. I come in contact with a lot of game wardens. No issues there either.

I once paid a mechanic that didn’t fix the problem they all just want the money so I talked to a lawyer and he wanted even more than the mechanic did! LOL

I was hurt, broke mislead with no justice but I got out of bed the next morning anyway.

Here permits don't take long to run. I used to hand mine over with my license but after the cops saw it they got nervous and posture changed. Like I would warn them I had a gun if I were going to be a threat to them. After a couple times of that I quit giving the permit.

In the last few years the law has changed and no permit is required to conceal carry. But they still like to ask any guns in the car. My response typically depends on my mood. May be why are guns illegal or absolutely several with enthusiasm that shocks them. Then they repeat the question so you have guns in the car and I reply Its Southern Indiana doesn't everyone and if they don't they should.

Most of them are not bad guys just poorly trained and have a touch of authority complex. You could not pay me enough to do their job and they sure don't get paid much.

I don't have a problem with police for the most part, but I'm still disgruntled over the jerk that pulled me over 3 times in 2 weeks for having a ball on the bumper of my pickup.

I got pulled over for following to close to a funeral procession, then got a ticket for not stopping for police with there lights on. Last thing she said as she handed me a ticket for $383.00 was if you don't agree you can go to court, and I said I'll see you there. I showed up she did not, I believe I would have won but the judge threw it out. This lawyer stuff is easy.

so my last interaction with a cop was the first time I ever handed over my CCL , I only did it because I was going through my wallet by feel I was messed up left in an ambulance with a neck brace.
I handed him the card holder section that flips out of my wallet that holds my DL in one clear compartment and CCL in the other.

he was way more interested in my insurance card than if I had a weapon , he never asked guess he figured I was in no shape to use it if I had one or i have no idea.

I still have never been asked if I have a gun/weapon.

the Dr helped me get my pants off in the ER , they cut my shirt off wasn't too worried about that.
but no one ever checked if I had a weapon so I just didn't say anything

they ask about even knives at the ER check-in desk but apparently nothing if the ambulance brings you in.

There are a lot of folks that are really good people but when they put on the police uniform something changes. My biggest complaint is that they don’t police their own ranks. On the rare occasion it does happen, they keep it on the ‘down low’ and that person finds a job for another department.

One of my neighbors is a local deputy. He pulled me over a couple years ago as my nephew and I were headed home from youth hunting on family land that borders the place he rents. Said his partner had heard a gunshot and then arguing. I had to laugh as I explained my nephew had gotten quite excited after killing his deer.

He apologized and left. I have been running my traps after dark in the evening as that is when time permits. Have met him several times while driving my UTV on the county road by his house. He hasn’t stopped me yet but I bet it is coming eventually.

You guys must live in a state that is using antique computers. Police here run your plate before the get out of the car. It pops up if you have a concealed carry permit. I got stopped in my wife’s vehicle running 89 in 70 zone. Officer walked up. Ask me if I had my csc firearm on me. I told him yes. Only time I ever been pulled over in 45 years of driving. Told me to slow down sent me on my way.

Unlike the Peoples Republic of Minnesota, Indiana is a constitutional carry state. No permit.

In Pennsylvania, you have no duty to inform that you are carrying a weapon. Also, police are not allowed to keep a database of who has a CCW based on license plate information.

I also have never been asked whether or not I was carrying.

I only informed once and that was because the cop could clearly see my handgun sticking out of the top of my briefcase on the passenger seat.

He had pulled me over in my work van thinking I had an expired inspection sticker. He asked me for my drivers license and registration. I told him it was in my briefcase right next to my handgun which he could clearly see. He became irritated and said, “Just get it.” So I did.

He asked me if I knew why he had pulled me over. I said, “I have no idea.” He stepped forward and looked at my windshield stickers, stepped back, handed me my license and registration and said I thought I saw a three. I said, “You did, that’s my weight class sticker.”

He had already realized his mistake and was walking back to his patrol car. I yelled out the window, “Are we done?”
He didn’t answer, just got in his patrol car and left. I think he was pretty embarrassed.

But, at least he was cool about the gun.

I don't believe any cop is going to pull his gun on you if you politely inform him you are going to step out and look at the problem.

Your life experience are clearly different than mine and shape that native view. It's reasonable until it gets proven wrong. It only takes one experience to change people's views.
