I'd have a hay day in there. Does it freeze over.

Based off that picture, how many muskrats would you expect to catch in that spot?

Trapping rats can be a lot of fun, it is a nice change of pace if they aren't your normal target. Back around 1998 I lived in southeast ND, we had a rat boom at the time. Caught a few hundred of them one Winter. I think I averaged between $3-$5 if memory serves me right. We always just set heavy and when the catch started to drop off after a couple of trap checks we would pull the equipment and move on down the road to the next permission.

I always estimate 3/rats per hut.

Very eastern Nebraska is the only place I ever saw musk rats squashed on the road like bugs on a windshield. The road was covered with them it seemed.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

In 79-80 there were no huts here. All bank denners. Now they are everywhere. They may know something we dont about this coming winter. Very mild so far but...

Not at all. This whole area is close to a river and swampy. This last summer we got good rainfall. Right here there are no banks for denning.

Man I trapped a lot of rats from places like that back in the day, late 70's early 80's. When the huts are that thick you'll have more bite marks and more kits. You usually get more kits when you get the larger ones trapped out. I would usually figure about 3.5-4 per hunt and then I'd start having a higher percentage of kits so I would quit. So cool to see them coming back like that. Man that picture takes me back to a time when I could really work like a maniac. Thanks for sharing.
