How many of you eat pretty simple when your wife is gone. Mine has been gone 8 days and will not be home for another three days. So far I have had ribeye and a beer every night and will have it another four nights. I will take two out for the night she gets back. They dog gets his share.

My wife was in Texas last year with the kids for 4 months, it was great, lol cooked good simple food, basically ate out of the freezer, my grocery bill was like 30 bucks a week.... Offered to send her more money if she stayed longer....

when she first died , it was like why bother making much , I like pork chops so a pork chop was it many nights and 3 eggs other nights.
I eat a salad for lunch to keep the pluming moving.
I always liked cooking and I missed it so I have started making good stuff and having people over sometimes.
my MKE kids are coming tomorrow so I am making a rolled pork loin roast and brussels sprouts for lunch.
Sunday I got invited over for the packer game at a friend's place I might be the least football guy around but I still count myself a Packers fan. I am grilling and making a spread when the game is over. bringing a cheese tray for the game.
I don't normally watch games , I listen to them on the radio some times that way I can be doing something else at the same time and a little like Uker announcing a Brewers game they seem to have more energy than the tv.
used to be when everything was over the air we would turn the volume down on the TV and put the radio on to listen to the game while watching it.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I can eat the same thing every day. I ate halibut 21 days in a row, skipped a day and had it for another 14. I like good fish though. I ate a hamburger and fries every night for over a month when TDY to Korea. I could eat a burger for way less at the NCO club then I could anything at the chow hall. The burger was the cheapest thing on the menu.

Isn’t it funny how our wives do all the cooking and tell us how great we have it. Then when we cook for ourselves, we feed like we’re kings!

I can eat the same thing day in and day out, the wife says it’s my best quality.. not being picky. Then I say, what’s that say about you.. and now I’m in the dog house eating dog food.

Gotta be tough. Thinking of you buddy. Trying to find a new normal must be maddening greencountypete you made me look at this post different. If I had no one to prepare for or they were not there to prepare for me in a not temporary situation my answer would be different. I would likely have no impulse to prepare food or eat. I make what others want for food and eat that meal. If they were all gone I would feel like I was going through motions. Good on you pushing through and thinking of foods you like. Keep prepping for others meals and enjoy with them. Your post has me viewing life different.
