I did that in a debate class in college. Lets just say I did very well in that class.
At the end of the semester, the instructor encouraged me to join a debate team.
I declined, telling him that I reserved this particular skill set for wooing young women, and the hot ones tend not to be found anywhere near debate teams.

We used to do a trapping demo at Cabelas, a tub of dirt and a trap make it easy. Clump of grass show them how to make a fast set then stick your hand in it everyone gasp. I found a #3 works better than a 1-1/2.

One thing I liked to do since they are kids was to focus on what they understand so I used the candy bar problem so they understand animal behaviors better. If I handed everyone a candy bar would that be a problem I’d ask them but if I had only 5 candy bars what might happen then how would they feel. (Summer vs Winter) feed availability and stress is the point.

Then ask why is chicken feed or animal feeds are spread out and not in a pile when you feed them, what happens if it’s in a pile to the flocks behavior then. Make them think for themselves if they get overly competitive stop them and point that out as a behavior that was brought on by competing with each other.

Kids need to be directed somewhat but them answering the questions for themselves is priceless.

Don’t forget talking around the circle and they all got along.

I gave a trapping talk to a classroom full of four graders once; they were a lot sharper than I was at that age.

When doing talks to kids of that age, you'll find girl and boy questions are very different.

I used to sit in a little hut and dole out info about the PA elk.

Girls are all about baby elk. They want to know the where's, when's, and how's. Have a quick reference there for when certain critters have their babies. How long they're pregnant for, etc, etc.

Boys.... Well boys are mainly into poop, pee, and hunting. If you can get your hands on a scat pamphlet to show the difference between coon poop and coyote poop.

Don't be surprised at the questions they can come up with.

If parents are going to be present, the questions will get more in depth. The adult may want to ask a question, but are too embarrassed to ask. So they'll get the kid to ask it. You'll figure it out real quick when they ask their question.

Good going. Just hope and pray then pray some more that some smart butt kid doesn't ask you ,, " aren't those animals cold without there coats". My answer was, "no, they grow new ones". I think the teacher about peeded herself trying not to laugh.
