Have any of you built a wood burner from a propane tank for a small room? How do they work?

From what I have seen of a small wood stove, they only hold small wood and you get flash heat and need to feed the stove again in 20 minutes. I made a stove out of a metal 5 gallon bucket. It was in a 4x8 fish house and I was too hot or too cold a lot more then comfortable.

I built one out of an old air compressor. I would guess 10 or 12 gallon? Its around 2 ft long wood and is 16 to 18 inches around.. Cut ends off compressor tank, cut rusted out bottom off spread it to make it bigger. Welded a flat top on where the bottom was, now the top, back end flat and used one of the rounded ends for a door. Had to mess with it drilling holes in door and making them adjustable. It lasts about 4 hours and then u have to put more wood in. I have it in an old 14x14 canvas girl scout tent. Ill be sleeping in tent this week, supposed to be 20 tomorrow night.
Best thing I found was the sawdust bricks from tractor supply for lazy people with wood stoves. Put a couple in before bed and it keeps coals longer than wood. U can get the very worn tent hot and stove red hot. But its thin and doesn't hold the heat once the wood burns out.
If u like tinkering and have a welder that's the way to go. Or just buy a small stove for a wall tent and use it.
