Don't know how many have went throgh trying to charge lawnmowers and others without any luck Not even a spark especially the yellow plastic super heavy durty ones wally world or harbor freight sells. Auto zone same story. What works for you?

Depends on what type of battery, regular chargers don't work on some new batterys

I have one like lugnut. Not digital. Charged every battery I put it on. If a battery is to low digital won't work.

For the smaller lawnmower, atv, and utv batteries I use one of the Noco Genius chargers from Amazon. I also alternate it between batteries throughout the winter to keep them maintained. I really think this practice has helped my batteries last longer.

I have a craftsman from sears, Probably 30 -35 years old! It works for me.

I use a tender instead of a charger.

I have several like this, 2amp for small batteries or slow charge and 10amp for bigger batteries. Might have to by used to get away from digital. One like lugnut has would be the best ifin you could find one.

Most new chargers have some kind of safety feature on them. They need to sense voltage before they deliver a charge. If the battery is totally dead the charger won’t sense voltage and will not turn on, brilliant eh?!?

I have had luck hooking jumper cables to dead battery for the first part of charging, just to get the charger to sense enough voltage to turn on.

I’ve always used a simple battery tender, my log splitter and mower take the same battery so I keep a spare in the shed that’s either charged or easy to top off. The weak or dead one just gets swapped out when needed with the fully charged one. A tender on sale is like $25 I have 2 of them ones pretty old but still works.

It’s a very slow type of charge no jumper option or quick start capabilities. Overnight gets it done.

I have one like that at camp. It works good on the ATV batteries, never used it on a truck battery but it would probably charge it.

The hoots here take the fencer solar panels and add a 12 volt cigarette vehicle plug to them to charge their vehicles they gave me a panel but I never missed with it. It seems like a great idea if a guys living remotely and they worked. Just toss it on the dash when the vehicle is not in use or for one that’s not a daily driver.

Sometimes the digital ones won't charge a really dead battery. They monitor charging voltage, and if it gets too high, they'll just shut themselves off. A really dead battery won't accept a charge at first, so the voltage jumps up too high for the charger, and they just keep shutting themselves off. Very annoying. The ones like lugnut pictured are the best.

I used to use them in conjunction with a voltmeter. Voltage starts out high until the battery starts accepting a charge, then it'll drop down as it soaks up the charge, and as the batter becomes fully charged it'll climb back up, until it's at 14.somethingV at a low amperage.
