Got a room where we do our reading, studying, guitar, piano, etc. and it’s where we hang our taxidermy, fur, and decorated all outdoorsy. Got to thinkin I’d like to add a print to the room. Something in the western/ mountain man genre. We love the west but stuck here in commie land for the time being… love our horses, huntin, fishing, and trapping. Just started looking into different artists and so far I like Paul Calle and Frederic Remington. Who else should I look into?

And the only artist to ever actually visit a rendezvous, Alfred Jacob Miller.

Robert Griffing has had many of his paintings on the cover of Muzzleloader magazine.
He has also set up at the Living History Show in Kalamazoo many times. Beautiful and historically accurate work.

Alfred Jacob Miller and George Catlin were artists who painted from first hand experience. If you can find prints of their art it would be a good fit.

So many of the paintings you see of mountain men depicted old men in fur hats which was not an accurate representation of the mountain man era.

You should add Karl Bodmer to that list, he painted the West during the same period.

Yes, there's a lot of "rondyzoo" art out there. Wright even admits that his earlier work suffered from that in hos new book.

Hey Kyle, are you going to make the show again this year?
If so, maybe I'll run into you again.

This is one my wife has done and sold. I made the rat stretcher and she hand wood burns on them. Don't remember what we have left but would have to look.

I have a Calle hanging in front of my desk and enjoy the heck out of it. You also mention Remington but don't forget Charles Russell.

Also Have a couple Robert Bateman prints but those are just wildlife not 'mountain man' art

If she does anything with black bears she could probably do pretty well at this show: https://www.blackbearshow.com/
