That's your farther or dad.. An old man is someone who mite live down the road. There's such a simple thing that's been going by the wayside more and more and that's called " Respect" It is nice your farther showed up to watch the school play. I hope you and your dad enjoyed it.

Around here some call their husband/boyfriend and wife/girlfriend. My ol-man or ol-woman. I Always thought that odd but to each their own.

Today we have men in dresses getting sex changes, men marring men and women women. We have much larger problems and things to worry about beside what our personal view of what someone called their father.

I don't give two rats butts about 2 men or 2 women or what they do. Put them all out on a flat rock in the middle of the ocean for all I care. I'm just talking about showing some respect for elder/parents.

My point is what may seem like a lack of respect to you and your area may infact respectful in someone else's. Or may be insulting.

To many times people pass judgment when looking through their limited personal scope. If you get outside your bubble you find things appear differently.

your father , may have well been just your sperm doner , if you really don't have any relationship or have a stand in to be your dad "biological father" is a term used.

your dad is well your dad he was there and it can have quite a range but he was there and done right.

your old man not Ol'Man that is a term women who like their husbands use. but your Old Man might have been your friend and mentor as well as being your dad , or yeah it might be high praise for the friend and mentor from down the road.

so many differences in language , not a lot of people call it a dialect in the US but we had some where around 40-45 of them and terms mean different things
