My older 2004 Foreman 450 oil temp light stays on it on even when the engine is cold so I know something is not working because it’s not hot and it on, I’d just drive it but that switch also controls the fan when it’s hot so that’s no bueno. I’ve narrowed it down to the fan relay or the fan but it’s probably the relay but guessing what you need with Honda priced parts could be expensive heck a qt of oil is $11 and you need 2.2 quarts. mad

I’ll test the fan tomorrow to narrow it down I grounded the wire to that temp sensor and the fan was supposed to run but nothing happened so it’s probably fan relay. Taking the shell off was crazy lots of clips and different bolts to mess with I blew it out with the compressor lots of spider webs, dirt and chaff in every crack.

Before the circus starts its a 2004 yes but I has less then 1500 miles on it if that even. Only used for weed spraying and wet trapping conditions I’m not much for driving around in circles strictly a utilitarian use of it.

Not sure why a circus would start...those older Foremans are much more reliable than the new ones. I have a lot of experience with both and id take the older ones any day for reliability

I had the same thing and there was a recall on the temp sensor. It seems like that one was a 2005. I had over 18,000 miles on it when I got the next one.

Temp sensor tested good if I ground the wire to the frame it should mimic the switch working and turn on then it did not. From the parts search it looks like the 2005 was a year they changed from 2004.

Funny the fan relays on the web range from $15 to $220 the cheaper ones have a Honda factory parts label in the photo, counterfeit ya think? LOL

I’ll run power to it tomorrow to see if it runs I’m thinking relay if it runs not much else but a wire maybe.

How old is the battery?
I got a king quad that when the battery is getting bad, lights come.
Like temp. Battery light, .
It likes battery's got put one in every 3 years.
Brother inlaw is a atv mechanic and can't find anything wrong with it.
Just what happens to mine.

Best of luck

Let me sugar coat this

Looks like it’s a common problem on this model year just not a single issue both parts were problems. My neighbor is out of town until next week he has the volt meters that would make this easier so testing the parts is a problem until he gets back. It’s just a process of elimination is the only way to narrow it down. If I put power to the oil switch that might tell me the wire is good then.

I need to see if the fan even works first, I’m testing it tomorrow. Its a good machine I don’t mind buying the relay if that’s what will fix it but Honda prices are crazy if I bought the relay, fan and oil heat sensor it would be $300 +$350 the switch might be an option.

I don’t want to tear it apart a second time if I don’t need to that plastic shell is like a puzzle getting it off should go back together easy.

I've got the same Honda Foreman with the same problem. With mine the red light goes on and off constantly. I took it into a ATV shop to have it checked out. They couldn't figure out why it was doing that. It has been doing this for years and I continue to drive as such with no problems. It makes me uncomfortable to drive it. I would sure like to know the fix.

Got a gift from my brother. It was 3 AA batteries with a note that said, Gift Not Included.

I ordered a fan relay and the temp unit after watching the YouTube videos I need to get this thing rolling cat season starts in 5 days but I can’t afford to blow it up. With the higher temps taking the truck in that short creek road might make a mess out so that’s not a option of it but after it’s set up I walk it once all the gear is in there.

I googled Honda Foreman oil light stays on. There are some interesting things listed that some say could be causing it.
Someone suggested the oil light staying on could be caused if you don't reset the oil change. I've changed my oil many times, but didn't even know there was an oil change reset button.
There is a video where the guy shows how to change the oil and reset the button. Could the problem be as simple as that?

My 2004 does not have a reset option on it. Plus if I ground out the oil temp switch wire the fan should kick in and nothing happens.
