Found this yesterday while picking up the decoys from a field. Same place several years ago I found a seated liberty dime while looking for arrowheads.

I would be running a detector over that field. Good find.

I have a cheap metal detector and I have used it here before and I find a lot of nails lol. I have to have it on the lowest setting to even find anything, if you turn it up to miss the iron it never beeps. Should try it again maybe.

Cornfield. Tons of geese around and this field has a lot of grain left in it but there is fields all around and once they find one they like and no one bothers them they’ll eat there till it’s cleaned out. Plus they’ve been getting their education now for about 3 and a half months. We get a weather change and maybe that’ll help.

All I know is the farmer who owns it said there was a couple houses there years ago but he has torn them down. I found the coins in another location that must have been a building close to the house. I see broken bricks glass and have found a couple of those old fashioned blue glass bottles. There must have been a small house or cabin by the river as I’ve found broken glass down there and a very old looking door knob. This would be about a 1000 yards from where the houses were.

Probably need to throw it away and buy a nicer one..

Keith C. If you don't mind, what's that web site for those coins. My wife was going through some stuff and found an old wooden box that my dad had where he was putting older coins in. The box it self is over 60 years old. My one grandson is just starting to get into looking at old coins.

If you're eyeballing Seated and Ben's, there could be a lot of silver and large cents in that field. Learn your detector or get a newer model.

My wife and I would come out and help clear the field of shotgun shell brass and an occasional coin. We would be able to bring a couple extra detectors for you to use. Let me know. We can set something up for the spring. Shoot me a pm.
