I agree with Dirt - probably Canadian dollars. Still not a bad price compared to a few years back

The amount of fur at Michigan was really low compared to past years. But the were better prices for sure.

Castor $50.00 Canadian per POUND? Good grief, what's that work out to $2.00 U.S. per ounce?
Guess I will just not bother with removal.

I talked to Mark Downey earlier today and to say he is upbeat about the fur market may be an understatement. He is pretty excited on the upcoming sale in march. The marten went up over 100 percent over in Russia and demand is expected to poor over to North Bay.

Looks like they went up about $100 ( which is good ) not 100%.

Mark Downey is paid to be upbeat. That is his job - getting trappers excited to ship their fur. The more fur they get, the more fur sells, the more commissions and fees they make. And Mark continues to collect his paycheck!!

I am not knocking Mark Downey. Just stating a fact as to how the fur business works.

You’re right. But couldn’t you just let trappers have a little optimism without going negative on it?
