Ya it dose save the thumbs. They are the same to pull out as if you were to hammer it in. I would think it would pound a horse shoe nail in.

I don't get it? Tap done, tap done with a hammer. Maybe two taps?

I always used a hydraulic brad nailer. You could easily pull the brads out with a pair of pliers. I never used a hammer and nails. Too hard on the fingers.
Got a gift from my brother. It was 3 AA batteries with a note that said, Gift Not Included.

Always boarded beavers use super fine finishing nails , started using hoops only because of lack of room to store boards. Really like the hoops now drying time better and easier for me personally to put them up I like those finishing nails as well. They go in easy and pull pretty easy as well.

I see it the same way as Dirt. I have a small pile of nails in the middle of the pelt, I reach for one give it couple of taps and I'm reaching for the next. I watched the video of the nailer and I can't see any advantage.
But heck, everybody does things their own way. If you like the thing go for it.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Huh. I have used both palm nailers and mini palm nailers for years in construction. I can't see how they would be a great improvement to boarding a beaver. You hand load each nail, get the exposed part, (tip) of nail where you want it, then push down. If you aren't very quick pulling back, that nail is through the board. Even trying to reduce air pressure won't reduce hammer taps. They are great for nailing in tight places and are incredibly powerful for driving nails up to 16d., but speed isn't what they were made for, and precision isn't their strong suite, either. As for pulling nails set with them, depth of drive is controlled by how many "pops" or strikes you allow them to make. Hard to quickly limit them to a pop or two without going very deliberately.
Just doing what I want now.

My favorite for boarding large beaver was a staple gun then to remove the staples a flat blade screwdriver , smaller sized beaver pelts I'd put on hoops and used hog rings to attach them to the hoop and would make a small hole with a awl which for me back them worked out the best since I didn't have a air compressor at my garage where I put up my fur .
You're friend along the snare line . Allan
