I had a miss a couple weeks ago on my farm. I reset and rebaited the dirt hole and actually caught a nice yote.
Twice this week I see sign of at least one other coyote coming along pooping near the catch circle and on the trail leading to the area.
Should I make another set nearby or can I just reset my original catch? The ground is tore up and frankly there is a little blood from me shooting him in the head.
What do you guys think? I want that second coyote!

Some areas you just can't get a coyote to commit to a catch circle. I still remake the original set had mixed results. Most times you're better off making a new set close by.

Thank you fellas. I have a likely place about 20 ft away where they had been digging a big not long ago. I like the idea of 2 traps.

… I rarely do it as I figure the others will get caught in my sets on down the road
… but remaking the set and putting in a new one close to the circle definitely won’t hurt anything
Insert profound nonsense here

The wisest thing I ever heard said about any K9 is you cannot always get them to commit to bait and lure, but you can't stop them from pissing....... cant control where they do that though...studies show that wild canines dont remark on top of others near as much as what we think.

I may be a little close to the barb wire fence to do that but I will look into it

I'm with Swamp Wolf and Jerry I'd put in 1 if not 2 subtle sets. A post and a trail set would be perfect IMO.

I’ve always reset the same circle and I use bait not lure. The circle is already full of pee and poo, I can’t add anything more to that already highly attractive location. But coyotes are thieves and can’t pass up a bait or food that another may have buried. I have great success at coyote remakes with just bait. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I will take the odds on a coyote investgating (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) on a prominent object on the downwind side of the catch circle over them jumping in a catch circle every time. The snow has never lied to me yet. You are right though, no guarantees in trapping.
