I had a miss a couple weeks ago on my farm. I reset and rebaited the dirt hole and actually caught a nice yote.

Twice this week I see sign of at least one other coyote coming along pooping near the catch circle and on the trail leading to the area.

Should I make another set nearby or can I just reset my original catch? The ground is tore up and frankly there is a little blood from me shooting him in the head.

What do you guys think? I want that second coyote!

Maybe reset and put a different type of set close by.

I always remake the set if conditions allow...... if its too muddy I just pull and move it to the edge of the catch circle. I like at least one clean set, no catch, at every location as well.

That catch circle is a magnet. I always remake it, and have another close. I use the same trap and just redo with the dirt that is there. Redig a bait hole and shape the dirt the way you want it. The whole set becomes an attraction. Have another set close so you can get a double.

Some areas you just can't get a coyote to commit to a catch circle. I still remake the original set had mixed results. Most times you're better off making a new set close by.

As sniper stated. Here anyways, it takes awhile for them to enter a catch circle from another coyote. Now a red fox catch circle will bring them in big time.

I'd reset the catch circle with the same trap. May as well, the trap is already there and smells like the rest of the catch circle so it will blend into it just fine, but you don't want to move that stinky trap to somewhere else until after you take it home and clean it. Now making another set close by is also a good idea. I would make a scent post myself, if I used any lure at all it would be gland lure. Personally when I remake I generally make it some kind of flat set, with the turds and possibly some chewed up sticks from the catch circle as the attractant. I have had pretty good success with tossing the dead catch where I'm going to put the attractant while rebedding the trap, making sure any blood running out of the mouth if you shot it is draining where you want the next coyote to stick his nose.

Some years remakes are deadly, other years I have no luck with them. But I generally always make them, because the trap is already there and it doesn't take much time.

Thank you fellas. I have a likely place about 20 ft away where they had been digging a big not long ago. I like the idea of 2 traps.

… I rarely do it as I figure the others will get caught in my sets on down the road

… but remaking the set and putting in a new one close to the circle definitely won’t hurt anything

Insert profound nonsense here

The wisest thing I ever heard said about any K9 is you cannot always get them to commit to bait and lure, but you can't stop them from pissing.......

cant control where they do that though...studies show that wild canines dont remark on top of others near as much as what we think.
