Just wondering if we have any Ham radio operators among us. There’s gotta be some!! I just got my license a few months ago, and am still building my setup. What are you guys running??

Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

I've got a couple baofengs. No license though. I don't really use them on ham channels, mostly just FRS channels, the same as cheap 2 way radios.

I was, haven't turned on a radio in a long time
Kinda fell out of love with electronics and just don't have a desire anymore
May just sell everything and buy some more traps😀

If my cousin Frank can do it, you can. Incidentally his nickname has always been either Bruz or Buzzard!!

I have always thought it would be smart to have the knowledge and ability. Just never allocated the time to learn it. It never made the priority list. Yet any way.

Nope. Had to get the license in order for my falconry telemetry to be legal.

It’s really not that bad. I spent about 5 hours studying and was able to pass the technician class and the general class test

What do you have? I may be interested in buying it. All I have at the moment is a handheld. I’d like to get a mobile in my vehicle, and also a home unit. I’ve gotten more interest in it now rather than just getting licensed for my falconry telemetry.

I'm a ham. 30+ years now. I run an Icom 7300 and an Icom 2730A for 2m/440. Congrats on the new license! 73! Antenna are a Cushcraft AR-10 and a Comet GP3. Got to get something better for HF below 10m.

I also have a GMRS license. But that's not really meant for rag chewing like ham radio. It's more for family and friend outings.

Congratulations on your new license Raptortrappe
My original license In 1964 was W8MQG. After upgrading to Extra Class, changed my call sign to N8PSO 20 plus years ago. Made it easier for new hams to copy my call sign during code practice.

Again, congratulations

Thanks! I just changed my call sign to W0GOS. The “W” for whiskey because unlike scotch after I fly my falconry birds. And “Gos” because my favorite bird to fly is a goshawk. I’m still trying to get my setup figured out, but do have a little HT for now.
