Going east to Salt Lake City was interesting depending where you started. I 80 has a few big hills between Cheyenne and Salt Lake but nothing like Monarch Pass on HWY 50. Before 92 I70 did not go all the the way to Grand Junction. It ended at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. West of Denver on I70 are some tunnels that make crossing the divide much safer. The old Loveland Pass that placarded loads must use instead of I70 through the tunnels, is still real bad also. I am convinced the old Wolf Creek Pass song was not called Monarch Pass or Loveland Pass because it sounded better for a song.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Great stuff, Danny.
I don't remember the details, but my dad once said something about a highway that would shoot you right into downtown Salt Lake City and you had to be careful with your brakes or it could end badly!

I remember going to Rifle Colorado on the old 2 lane beside the river through the canyon before they built the 4 lane.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.
