Buddy stopped by for some cat supplies he wanted to see my tom from the other day so I opened the freezer and it’s barely frozen there’s still ice around the walls of the freezer but things were starting to thaw some yikes. Pulled the 2 cats out and fired up the spare freezer and got that going right away the other cat from last year was froze solid under my elk hide. Nothing great in there mostly cat carcasses, snakes and some other baits a few coon pelts.

One less thing plugging up my shop but now I don’t have a spare it could have been worse like if it was summer. The last time I had liquid beavers and skunks this is no biggie I’d hate to lose my cats.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Oh yes close one. Probably my biggest worry. My freezer is usually full of beaver through the summer and the other full of bait meat. I would have no room if one would go out.

I have known the terrible freezer-quit-working story too many times. Dang lucky you caught it.

Brother of mine had a chest freezer on an extension cord in his wood shed. Apparently the condenser shorted out without tripping anything, heated up and caught on fire burning down his shed and attached house.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Yep that is always a concern of mine also. When you least expect it it will happen sure as heck!!! I got some XXL beavah blankets in mine also.

Lucky your buddy came bye when he did, good timing for you.

I have 5 large broken down freezers now. I move them outdoors and cover them to keep the weather out.

Some I have had many years so it is all good. Great idea to have a spare sitting around if you have the room.

I re purpose the dead freezers for storage, aging and rendering buckets of materials. Great for protection from flies and animals also.

It comes with the territory it seems. We all cross that bridge sooner or later. The more you have the faster they go South it seems.

I have those little alarm deals in/on all of the working freezers. They also have a digital read out on them to see the interior temp as you are walking bye. Learned that lesson a while back.
