Buddy stopped by for some cat supplies he wanted to see my tom from the other day so I opened the freezer and it’s barely frozen there’s still ice around the walls of the freezer but things were starting to thaw some yikes. Pulled the 2 cats out and fired up the spare freezer and got that going right away the other cat from last year was froze solid under my elk hide. Nothing great in there mostly cat carcasses, snakes and some other baits a few coon pelts.
One less thing plugging up my shop but now I don’t have a spare it could have been worse like if it was summer. The last time I had liquid beavers and skunks this is no biggie I’d hate to lose my cats.

I have known the terrible freezer-quit-working story too many times. Dang lucky you caught it.
Brother of mine had a chest freezer on an extension cord in his wood shed. Apparently the condenser shorted out without tripping anything, heated up and caught on fire burning down his shed and attached house.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Technology can help with that for pretty low cost. I have a couple of freezer in a shed and my son gifted me the following for Christmas. Have not got it set up yet but know folks who have them and are pleased with them. Mocreo Freezer Alarm It comes with 2 sensor units )2 freezers) but you can add additional sensors if you have more freezers or refrigerators

I'm one for simple gadgets and the like. Adding all these fancy techo video screens on refrigerators and other major appliances are just more expensive crap that will break and cost a lot to fix.
With that said ,
All freezers should come with a good basic alarm that sends a message directly to your cell phone. No other stuff like remote changing the temperature or anything. Just let me know immediately when something is wrong. That's all I need.

Went out after dinner moved the stuff in there to 3 other freezers the snakes went to the skunk freezer, cat carcasses most were still solid to the spare freezer then the coon and beaver hides to the gland freezer.
I needed some bait for tomorrow to set up a landowner that I hunt turkeys on that wants to catch a cat I need to meet him at 10 AM. Found a small beaver carcass in the bags of cat carcasses sawzalled it in half so I have 2 nice chunks of bait. Had a civet carcass that cats supposedly like and some huge shiners I can put to use also.
That freezer smell is potent for the stuff being frozen all of the time all my duds went in the washer and I hit the shower the dogs kept following me around. LOL

Cheap too. Nails it. Manufacturers are really missing the mark here. Adding this to your product as standard - basic equipment with much lower costs of scale , adds real value to your product and would put you head&shoulders above your competition. Should be an industry standard. Included in purchase price.

I tested the extension cord all the way to the compressor to make sure that was not the issue it had power all the way. I’ll plug it in when it warms up to see if it starts but I’ll never trust it again it’s old and heavy time for the scrap heap. I washed everything but my leather gloves I went to walk the dog all I could smell was the freezer smell on the gloves on the back porch so I took them out to the shop.
