I have a couple beaver I am going to send. How would you package them. Thought about just rolling them up and boxing them. Folding them would cause them to break wouldn't it?

Call your tannery and ask how best to ship.

Rolling them works. Put fur to fur and leather to leather.

I've sent them a email, just don't know if I will get an answer before I want to send them.

I suspect that if there isn't a hard crease when you fold them that they're gonna be OK. Rolling works but will be more expensive to ship that way.

I just layed them flat and Frankensteined a box together with a bunch of tape.

I thought just doing that but the ate blanket size beaver and the cost would be more than it needs to be. Bigbrownie I think if a person was going fold a beaver hide they would break.

Carl - I disagree. Rolling is probably the best and least expensive way to ship. And safer than folding. Shipping them flat is very expensive considering dimensional weight. If you roll them very tight, the leather won’t be creased and the size will be reasonable.

When I was shipping larger quantities of beaver to tannery or auction house, I would get an 18x18x36 box and start packing the skins around the edge of the box, working my way in but maximizing the number of skins I got in the box. If you fill it full you will be pretty close to 70 lbs.
