In the last six or seven years I’ve killed 178 yotes out the window of my shed. Just a red flood light with an IR intensifier and a security camera. Redneck setup but it works. Kill has went down over the last few years as all the thermal guys figured it out and cruse my bait from the road. Have found a few yotes they shot in the field over the years.
Best bait so far skinned deer with the legs cut off and guts still in. Use the legs separately for bait. Along with at least 2 scent posts. Half the kills come off of the scent posts. If two yotes are there always shoot the female and never retrieve dead ones till morning. I’ve killed several yotes sniffing dead ones.

Lake opened up the other day first deer is gone sunk or floated away. I just picked up a second one a small buck this morning not far from the house. Cleared a better shooting lane by dragging the deer through the vegetation and chainsawed the willows so it’s not out in deeper water if the lake opens up again. Not loosing 2 baits.

Pretty cool.

What are you using for security camera?

It is not legal here to put bait on the ice.

Putting it on the ice is fine here it’s the only way I would move a deer to another location with the current deer issues. Even though it’s a road kill by putting it on the ice other deer aren’t likely to mess with it but the predators can go to town on it. I stopped using deer as a draw on land years ago unless they are killed within a mile of the location I’m using them for.

I definitely don’t haul them to other counties like I did years ago before the deer health issues became a problem and stack a draw with them in the winter. It was a great snare location in the river break deeper draws. Used dead cattle also you would be surprised how quick a group of coyotes can clean up a whole cow.

Your coyotes must not be to picky. Usually, at least around here a dead cow has been shop up with different medicants and the coyotes won't touch them.

It amazing how punctual some yotes are. The other night I shot 3 yotes and had a 4th on the bait at 4:30am. Nexr night yote on bait at 4:30 but no shot. Last night back again at 4:30. Third time was a charm.

Here they start at nights only often then the competition for the bait drives them out sooner and sooner until they are out in the daytime. That first bait I had out a yote was on it in the daytime the first week before the ice went out very unusual. My dog was out chasing pheasant and rabbits I thought it was her it trotted off on the ice like it was no big deal then my dog came around the big building. I was yelling for my dog the whole time it seemed the yote could care less it never took off like I thought it would.

Squash I do the same. I have 2 guardian driveway sensors out. One at the bait angled away from it to catch the yotes circling and one on a close bait. Sometimes the foxes drive me crazy though.
Also use trap anchors and cable to keep the bait in place. Keep killin guys!!!
