If any of you are fighting flu with a violent cough go to the hospital and get tested - without hesitation! I waited way to long. I gutted it out for about 12 days before it was obvious I could not wait any longer. On Sunday the 28 I asked my wife to take me to the emergency room. Testing showed I had Influenza A, an x ray showed double pneumonia, a CT scan showed I have a saddle blood clot in my lungs. I soon took a helicopter to Salt Lake. I spent six bad days in ICU and three more on a different floor. I just made it home a little bit a go. I will be on oxygen and blood thinners for a while at least.
I heard from many of the hospital staff how bad this Influenza A is this year, and how important is is to get in early and get on tamiflu to give your body a fighting chance. Y'all still be cowboys - just be smart Cowboys. Take care.
Each day is a gift. LIVE IT with gratitude.

Boy oh boy Dan. Glad you finally saw the light and got help. Been hearing it's a bad year for the flu and lots of fatalities.

I should have taken the flu shot this year I guess. I have in the past but stopped many years ago.

Glad you are getting through it. When I was much younger I also almost died from the flu. The reason I get the flu shot every year. There is no such thing as getting the touch of the flu. Either you have it or don't have it. The flu can kill and it does. A person can still get it even with a flu shot. However. with the flu shot it can ease the symptom which also happened to me. It would be interesting to know the statistics of how many people actually died from an allergic reaction to the flu shot compared to deaths from people that got the flu and never received the shot.

I am bound to ask you the obvious question: Do you routinely receive a flu shot? It isn't perfect, but I expect it might have alleviated some of your hardships. We are seeing daily deaths from influenza in NC. I hope it doesn't snowball. Actually, read an article recently that said this years flu shot does nothing for this variant.

Everyone I know who has had the flu got the flu shot Stopped taking them years ago and no worse off To each their own but I see no reason to take a shot that might work. The ones who put the shot together are guessing which strain will be prevalent and lately they have a record of guessing wrong
