That 2016 Tundra I bought only had one key. I would like to have a spare, just in case. I purchased a blank fob, but the Toyota place wants $189. to program it. Y'all know of any cheaper places to get this done?

That’s about what I paid to have a blank fob programmed by Toyota. Same deal as you, when I bought my 2018 Tundra it only came with one fob.

Eh...wot?

I found a local independent locksmith who made a 2nd fob for my wife's car. Way cheaper than the dealership. I found him online

I called Ace her, and I was told they don't do it.

$150-$200 is the going rate. Stupid chips and computers.

Put a battery in the wife's car last year. Cost more to have the car's computer reset than the battery cost.

Paul -don't know if you have a COSTCO by you but they have a company that travels between stores that does it and I hear its cheaper than a dealership. Folks were lined up when they were here last time. Car Keys Express I think its called

Costco was selling them not long ago. May have been just a temporary booth. Not sure.

I have used tomskey.com several times with good success. I have ordered the fob and programmer from them. You pay a security deposit for the programmer that is refunded when you return it. It saved me a lot of money compared to paying a dealer to do it.

Each day is a gift. LIVE IT with gratitude.

Was in our local lock place (ASL) earlier this week to get some work done, not related to key FOBs. But I did notice their sign that said we only program key FOBs that we sell. No idea what they charge.

But if there is an ASL place close to you, give them a call.

If you just want a key to unlock the doors, you can likely get a regular non-FOB key for cheap. If you need a programed one though, 150-200 is the going price usually. It's very expensive, for what takes the tech about 5 minutes of actual work.

Batteries Plus did one for my wife. Took 3 trips because only 1 of their employees knew how to do it.

Anybody need a Ford fob? Think it is for a 2016 Explorer.

A kid washed my car and found it under the seat. I put new batteries in it but it needs programming.

PM me if you need one.

It’s like getting a new windshield and they tell you it’s $300 to check your radar alignment it was optional before now they don’t offer a release form. I found a guy that would do it without the alignment and the fee. I had 2 windshields put in my Tacoma never did the alignment and never need it the systems worked just fine. They got you over a barrel and they know it.

I bought key on line.(for Ford) had the local hardware store cut it , and a local mechanic with good scan tools (like snap on) program it. Also I had a local lock smith do one for me. I bought the Key from though.

Wasn't it nice when just a key would work?
