If this officer was indeed struck by the car couldn't he sue the estate? Wouldn't this money be part of the estate?

1st off the story is a lie. She wasn't killed after a traffic stop. She tried running over the officer!

Where she died wouldn’t the money go right to the other woman or the child? So it would bypass the estate, then I would think that those people would have to pay income tax on that money which just guessing would probably be in the highest tax bracket.
