Which caliber do you grab most often? I know most folks on here have multiple choices. If I am heading off to someplace thick, no chance of a shot over 100 yards, might have to shoot quick, I grab an iron sighted 30-30. Most of the time its my old 270. Had it a long while and have confidence in it being able to get the job done. what are you most likely to pick up?

For years it was my 270, now it’s my 6.5.

When rifle hunted it was my Winchester model 100 in .308. Now my daughter makes good use of it.

I've shot the vast majority of the deer I killed with a 308. I've used a 30-30 a few times. I liked the 308 because I could shoot the 7.62 ammo, which had a thicker case, and I could reload more times. I did a lot of reloading back when I was in SD prairie dog hunting. I had access to a lot of 7.62.

Really like my boys 270 for deer. Think its about as good as it gets for deer sized animals. But its his so if long shots are possible and I've got a buck tag I'll grab my 7 RM. Probably killed more deer with a 243 but I'll limit myself a bit when I'm shooting it.

I also have a Winchester model 100. I don't know how many rounds I put through that thing. It's been a good gun. I more recently got a Winchester XPR in 308.

My .257 Roberts does it all for me.

For years it was either the 308 or 30-30. I got a Tikka 7mm Rem Mag a few years ago and have been using it. Also got a Ruger Ranch in 7.62 x 39. The Ranch rifle is a good rifle for climbing these mountains around here. Plus shots usually aren't that long.

ruger #1 in 45/70 but this year i bought a browning x-bolt in 7mm-08.

300 WSM

.223 and 22-250 are popular rounds out here for deer with the right bullets.
