I saw one made out of 2x2s 20+ years ago. It seemed to work fine.

I have 2 of them.
I mainly use them on #4 double long springs to remove lynx and wolverine.

I use 2 on #4.5 sleepy creeks and #4 Bridger DLS's. Way faster than trying to find the clip in the snow or leaves. I taped the handles with red electrical tape and I wrapped black electrical tape where it clamps on the spring so it doesn't wear the paint off the springs.

Do you guys prefer this type to the cam type posted earlier in another thread ?
A bit bigger to carry (especially x2) but other than that ?
Thanks

I actually like the cam over one better but they don’t fit the #5 Bridgers or dukes.

I think I can make a squeeze type out of 2x2’s like was mentioned above.

Ended up making some squeeze type out of wood and wire. Works great!

Sounds like what the mountain men used to set their longsprings. Two sticks tied together and squeezed over the springs.

I did feel a little nostalgic when using them
